    - Recieving SQL Sever errors: ID 2001 When people try to add documents to any WSS document library from outside our LAN using the external access address http://FQDN/document library, etc.., the document is never added but I receive an error in the Application log on the server. Source: SQLFTHNDLR, Event ID: 2001, Description: One or more documents stored in image columns with extension '' did not get full-text indexed because loading the filter failed with error '0x1'. It doesn't matter what type of document they're trying to upload. I can upload a document from within the LAN however. I've tried everything from recreating the IIS virtual websites and re-extending them to installing SharePoint on 2 clean boxes and restoring by either using the built in backup/restore utility or simply restoring from the SharePoint admin pages. There is one KB artilce on this that doesn't apply. It is this: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;888839 I'm using the same versions.     - New User Notifications I'm experiencing flaky activity from SharePoint when adding new users to a portal. 1. If I add a user who is external to my company (i.e., bill@microsoft.com), SharePoint throws the error: "The user or users have been added successfully, but there was an error in sending the e-mail message. The server may not be set up correctly to send e-mail." 2. If I add a user who is internal to my company, and fully specify an email address (i.e., bill@mycompany.com), the user is notified via email. 3. If I add a user who is internal to my company, and SharePoint has picked up their exchage ID (i.e., Jones, Bill), I do not have the same error as in #1, above, but shortly thereafter, my email server sends me a message that it attempted to deliver the message to Jones and Bill, but could not resolve their addresses.     - Backup & restore WSS to a different server Hi, Hopefully someone will be able to answer my question. Basically I'm in the process of changing my WSS server. What would be the best way to transfer all my data (sites, user security, etc) to a new server? I have currently 200 users and I'd like to minimize the overhead.     - Personal Themes in WSS? Hello all, I was wondering if there is a way to create a personal (private) theme using WSS? Our custom theme that is across our deployment apperently is causing problems for one person. We recently hired a temp that is red/green color blind and has requested that the site she is a member of be changed to a different color. We want to be sensitive to her needs, but we also do not have the luxury of controlling the styles directly and are forced into consistency. Please advise, and thank you in advance! -K.C.     - recursive event handlers Hi all, I developed an event handler that updates some metadata for the items that launched the events. I suspect WSS to generate new events when I update the metadata from my event handler, and so to instantiate recursively my event handler. Is there anybody who could confirm it ?     - IIS Crashes with a WSS2.0 event handler Hi all, we develop a custom workflow engine based on Windows Sharepoint Services 2.0 SP1 event handlers. Everything works fine with a few documents, but as there are several modifications done on events (workflow instance and metadata on documents, in addition to several checks requiring reading in document libraries), this requires several database access through the WSS object model.     - Attn: Fixed it. But can you tell me what caused problem? My boss was able to use explorer view in WSS for a long time. I had to change the identity for the application pools but it failed because the new login did not have permissions on one of the databases. So I reverted back to the original login for the application pools. After that my bosses explorer view would not work. Nothing else had been changed. So I found a KB article saying that if you have SP2 installed on the client and you are running basic authentication on the server that you have to edit a reg key to fix the explorer view problem. But we are not using basic authentication but we did the reg key fix and now his explorer view works fine.     - HOW TO open jpg files in its associated application not the browser Hi all, I have a client that wants to open jpg and gif files in the application that has been associated to the file extension through windows. for example in this instance this particular client uses a special viewer for zooming in to the images and performing other tasks. It is webdav compliant, that is, it can open files from a http location. However, when the users click the jpg, gif and other extensions from the portal, they seem to be going to a preview mode within internet explorer. Is this possible out of the box?. Is there something that i would need to configure in windows or in sharepoint. I know there is a file in sharepoint that allows you to specify an application for a file type, but that is at the server level so that means that every user will get that by default.     - Web farm/Load balancing problem I am having problems getting WSS working properly with load balancing. I have 2 servers running IIS 6.0 and Windows Server 2003 with network load balancing and a back-end SQL server machine. I already have 2 static virtual sites on both servers and that works without problems. I installed WSS SP1 on server1 with the web farm configuration. Created a configuration database on the SQL server. Created a new virtual server and extended it with a new content database. This all works fine. On server2, I installed WSS SP1 with the web farm configuration. I pointed it to the configuration database I created earlier. I created a new virtual server on server2 and extended it with the command stsadm -o extendvinwebfarm -url -vsname -apidname -apidtype -apidLogin -apidpwd where all the values matched the virtual server created on server1. It seems to have worked and when I go into the Manage Content Databases page on server 2 it shows the already existing content database and it has the correct number of sites. However when I try to connect to the top level site it asks me to authenticate and then I get a 'Directory listing denied, The virtual directory does not allow contents to be listed'. If I try to create a dataview links list in the subsite that gets its links from the top level site (by adding and connecting the data source of the subsite, in frontpage), The links are shown in URL format, the name of the link has gone. Since there has been quite extensive editing of list B, the lookup field is now virtually useless as there are a lot of duplicates in the lookup field.     - Antivirus info I got access denied trying to pull up the FAQ on the WSSFAQ site, so I'll try posting it here: Am I protected by "local" AV software such as McAfee VirusShield 8.0 that I have installed on my WSS Server, in terms of files that are up- and downloaded? I have turned on the Virus Protection checkboxes in WSS Central Admin, but that is the usual mumbo-jumbo in terms of clear direction from Microsoft.     - Security error 0xC0000064 For some reason in the last few months every few days a random user will be prompted for a username / password while trying to access a site or a document in a WSS site within our SPS portal.
