We have a Word document with different properties.

When we save a document in WSS - the alfanummeric ("text") properties
(i.e. "F16" or "Report") are automatically transferred to a coloum
with the same name in WSS.

However if we create another property with the format number (i.e.
121212) nothing is shown within WSS (The coloum format is "number" in
WSS as is the Word property format).

Do you have any ideas?

I'm fairly sure I added this to the WSS FAQ.

There is one set of Properties that are not transfered. These are the
Properties on the Summary Page.

These WSS properties then get the name Title0 etc.

-----------------

So much for the theory. I've just looked and can't find a field called
"Format Number" or "Number" on the Summary Page :)

Are you sure you spelt the field exactly the same ? If you did then the
theory about only the fields on the Summary Page not being transfered across
is wrong.

Nor can I find such a field in Properties / Custom - only "Document number"
and "Telephone number"

Mike, thanks for your quick reply.

I've searched the WSS FAQ and the news group several times - but
unfortunately unsuccessfull.

We have transferred our own defined properties from Word to WSS - but only
Text fields - not number fields. (However, they are unfortunately not
syncronized. But thats the next issue ;-) )

How we define a property in Word and transfer it to WSS and make it work:
1. We've created a test_bookmark field (a bookmark) in a Word document.
2. In Word/Properties/Custom we create a new custom property called test and
"link to content" test_bookmark. The Type of the field is "Text"
3. In WSS a column called "Test" with "Single line of text" content
4. Voila - the content of the field "test_bookmark" in the Word document is
transferred when you add a Word document to the document library in WSS.

However, if you do the same but with the Type "number" in Word and the
column format "number" in WSS, then the value is not shown.

Any ideas about where we could solve this problem?

Can you tell me where I can find the property "Number" in Word 2003 ? I
can't see it. (very possibly because I am looking in the wrong place - I use
Word to create documents and that is that)

You are using the English language version not the Danish ?

We create a new custom property with the type "number" at
Word/Properties/Custom and link this property to a field in the Word
document. (Now it would be great to be able to add a screen dump).

> You are using the English language version not the Danish ?

We use English version.

This could well be your answer. It might well be that only standard Word
properties (with the exceptions mentioned earlier) can be automatically
transfered from WSS.

It would be good if somebody with more Word knowedge than me could come in
and reject or agree with this theory.
