i have created a new list of announcment which i have called it
"myannouncements"
then i went to \Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\web server
extensions\60\TEMPLATE\1033\STS\LISTS\ANNOUNCE and i deleted the
"editform.aspx" page.the point is when i go to "myannouncments" list, i can
still edit this list, lets say...nothing has changed for this list .but now
when i try to creat a new list of "announcment" type,i get error...well...i
guess its something related to ghosting/unghosting..but i want someone to
explain what exacyly happens and how this all happens...i have read a good
blog about ghosting/unghosting
http://www.bluedoglimited.com/SharePointThoughts/ViewPost.aspx?ID=4
but i want to know what exactly happen about my announcment issue
any explanation would be highly appreciated
thanks

If I understand this correctly you deleted the EditForm.aspx page from
the hard drive? That's what causing the problem with the creation of a
new list. The creation process tries to find this file but can't so
fails. This has nothing to do with ghosting. You can edit the existing
list because you're not invoking the EditForm page, just the summary
page for the list. The EditForm page is used for editing an individual
entry in the list.

Hi Bil,

I also realize that editting files in below folder using Front Page 2003:
\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\web server
extensions\60\TEMPLATE\1033\STS\LISTS\ANNOUNCE

will result error (The link is not available anymore) in top navigation bar
(Home, Document and List, Site Setting). The reason I modified AllItems.aspx,
NewItem.aspx, etc ... was to change the default icon with company logo.

So, next time if user want to create new announcement, it will automatically
show company logo instead of default annoucement icon.

Is there anyway that I can achieve it ?

Thank you

Best Regards,
Tjendarta Ho
