discussions permissions to contributors

how is it possible to give contributors such a right to delete their own
messages in discussions ?

OK,

Follow these steps:

1. Navigate to the discussion list.
2. Click the "Modify settings and collumns" link on the left.
3. Click the "Change permissions for this discussion board" link under the
"General Settings" section.
4. Click the "Modify item-level security" link on the left.
5. Set the "Edit Access" option under "Item-level permissions" to "Only
their own".
6. Click the "OK" button.
7. Click the "Change permissions for this discussion board" link under the
"General Settings" section.
8. Click the "Change anonymous access" link on the left.
9. Check all three check boxes in the "Anonymous Access" section.
10. Click the "OK" button.

That should do it and give anonymous users the ability to add, modify and
delete items to the list but with modify and delete they will be restricted
to only their own items.

Thanks, but it doesn't work. All checkboxes in the Anonymous section are
dimmed and not available ...

Now I can only make that all contributors can add, edit and delete messages,
but in this case they can add other users to this discussion board. It's a
security hole.

How to eliminate it ?

If this premission is like others, you probably need to first set the
overall access so that users can edit all messages, then this will enable
the Anonymous section choices, and then you can go and set the overall
access so that users can only edit their own posts.
