    - Starting over When I try to extend a virtual server from the web interface, I get an error that the site is already extended. Yet when I try to unextend the default web site, I'm getting the error: The virtual server that is referenced here is not in the config database We've hopefully corrected a system/network problem that was keeping us from completing installation and configuration of WSS and creating our first site. Now I wondering if I can't simply manually delete all the WSS tables in Enterprise Manager and someway delete the extensions in the default website and start over. Any suggestions? Is their a command line way to remove WSS extensions when unextend doesn't work as above? Can I delete them all from windows explorer? Thanks for any help.     - Service install Hello Everyone. I have small problem.I wrote a win service and i need to insatll in on the separate machine. I installed it just file on the development machine but when it comes to putting it on the server just does not work. I use command prompt in both cases and i use installutil do do everything.     - WSS Searching I'm just trying to get a basic understand of the WSS search capabilities, I using WSS as document storage/version control from a custom Web App. From what I've read, it seems all the Searching Services are availabe only if you install Sharepoint Portal Server, which we don't have. So my question is, how do I build a remote, custom search app? I have full-text search enable on the SQL 2000 backend, do I have to setup Catelogs for each DB I want to be able to search? Which DB contains teh document information/properties? Is webDAV a solution to searching WSS? I'd appreciate any help, just trying to get a good idea what options are available to me, and for some guidance in my research. If someone could just give me the names of the basic technologies I can use or should use, I'm all for reading and learning what I can on my own, just need to know where to start.     - smigrate tool nor FP work for packaging a site I am trying to copy our dev WSS site to a testing server. If I use the smigrate tool it bombs out right after opening the url. It opens the site, sits for a few secondds, then closes with "Error (possibly fatal): Error: 6553603 Transaction aborted". If I use FrontPage then it brings up the site just fine using "open site". It shows the main site and all the sub-sites (created by the developers) under it just fine. When I choose to export it all is well. I can even import it onto the new server but it will only contain the top-most url. Any of the sub-sites will not be there.     - web.config file - where is it on a hosted plan? Hi, Ok, I've read through all the threads I could find to solve my "webparts not safe" issue - I need to edit my web.config file. However, I have sharepoint with a hosting provider, so I dont have access to the entire machine. Only my virutal website. I have a root website, and then a sharepoint environment defined under a folder one level down. Where should my web.config files be? I read through my MSDN resources this morning and I'm under the impression that there should be a web.config in each virtual server, but I cant find mine. Any ideas on how I can do this without access to the whole server? If this is how it works, how is anyone ever going to be able to effectively host multiple instances for customers? Thanks!     - Trouble extending Virtual server When I extend a virtual server (using host header names). I get a page that says Access denied.     - Error: Adding user to OU FAILED. I am setting up a test of the "Server Farm" configuraion. When I try to add a new site the operation ends telling me it "cannot complete this action", and when I check the event log I see a message saying: "#1e0046: Adding User "xxxxx6" to OU "SharePoint Users" in domain "YYYYYYY" FAILED with HRESULT -2147467259.     - Help me out here.... I know I'm going to get replies saying that I shouldn't do this, but.... Since there is no way to create an Event Handler for a normal list (other than doc libraries), I have come up with this solution: Wrote my code in .NET, and will use a DTS Package in SQL to reference it. Will then use a Trigger on the UserData table so that when new data is added for a specified list, it will start the DTS Package. Everything works fine when using the Trigger for an UPDATE on the UserData table, but if I use INSERT in my Trigger, then the WSS site gives a SQL Error when I add info to a list. It will go ahead and add the record to the database and site, but still returns the error. MY QUESTION: Why is it giving this error? I know that I am changing how the database is used by WSS, but I am using an AFTER trigger, not an INSTEAD OF, so WSS shouldn't worry about this.     - WSS WebService Login in C# I am trying to write a very simple test WinForm app to see what I can get from WSS using its Web Service interfaces. All I'm trying to do is connect to the server and draw down something from a list to start with. Once I get the basic connection sorted I'll progress from there.     - DataView Master/Detail and target frame (already post in sharepoint.development but i found this ng more appropriate) Well maybe i'm dumb but i can't realize how to do this (and i've read all the ng on the earth...) It's really simple to connect two dataview with fp2003 even if the detail dataview is on another page. But what i want to do is open the detail dataview on a new window/frame (and possibly a light frame, not all the ie stuff). I tried to simply change the target attribute in the <a> tag in the dataview but it doesn't work as it call actually the __dopostback function. So it's this function that open the page in the same frame. How to change it ???     - Sharepoint on the same server as SUS Hello, I have a windows 2003 server that I have been running SUS on for a few months. Last week I installed Sharepoint and created some sites. I went to approve the updates on the SUS server http:\\server\susadmin and it gives a 404 error. I have tried reinstalling the SUS server multiple times with the same result. Is there something in Sharepoint that breaks the SUS service or is there something that I need to configure in IIS to make it work on the same server as sharepoint? Admin Guide:

Configure regional settings
1.. On the site, click Site Settings.
2.. On the Site Settings page, under Administration, click Go to Site
Administration.
3.. On the Site Administration page, in the Management and Statistics
section, click Change regional settings.
4.. On the Regional Settings page, select the settings to use, and then
click OK.
