All I've got in general WSS usage is the final sentence from before i.e.

>> of the List itself and then amend the defaults for that >web part so that

I've just started using Project Server myself so I'm less confused about
what you mean (having now seem the views you get included in that) than I
would have been before, BUT I'm still confused by you use of "view".
A View in WSS parlance is a rendering of the information from a WSS List
(where the List could be things like a document library; Issues List etc.).
And as I wrote before you can create a new view for a List and then when you
add the web part for that List to a webpart page in a WSS site, you can
specify which View of the data you want to be visible.
Every View you create is listed in the left-hand column when you open a
List, including ones that you have only created for use as the View shown in
a web part.
So - in Project Server 2003 - there is a Issues List. When you select this
on the left-hand side there is a list of the predefined Views that come with
that List in ProjServ 2003 (more than come with the Issues List in standard
WSS). When you add a View of your own, that View is added automatically to
that list just as it is in WSS. [If it isn't then you really do have a
ProjServ specific question because in standard WSS they are always added]
Once in that list of Views on the left-hand-side of that Issues List, they
are available as an option when adding a web part of the Issues List to a
WSS webpart page.
Does that help to clarify matters ?
