Hello:

The browser crashes with the following error in the Event Log whenever I try
to open any document (Word, Excel, Powerpoint) in a document library using
IE7; however the same documents open fine suing IE6. The documents have been
created and uploaded to WSS using Office 2003 but are being opened in Office
2007.

*** Error*****
EverFaulting application iexplore.exe, version 7.0.5730.11, faulting module
kernel32.dll, version 5.1.2600.2945, fault address 0x00012a5b.

For more information, see Help and Support Center at
http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.
******

Is this caused due to a mismatch in the default file types for Office 2003
versus Office 2007? I have potentially 4000-5000 users that may have issues
opening many of the documents.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

I had this quite a lot for a short time. Make sure you visit the MS update
site for the Windows Server, and the Office Update Site for your Software. I
would get the IE7 crash, but I never lost any data. The problem just
eventually went away.

I just started having this problem also. As far as I am aware, making
sure now, but my machine is up to date. Any other ideas?

We had the same problem here, It was caused by project 2003 wich was
installed AFTER office 2007, go to add remove programs and then office
2007, in "Office tools" click on "Windows SharePoint Services
Support", choose "not available" close all applications, open add-
remove programs again, click on "Windows SharePoint Services Support"
and choose "Run from my computer"
