I have existing FP2003 sites that I use FP Extensions for only the
publishing of the site. I have hit the Windows Server 2k3 SP1 / Frontpage
wall (breaks fp extensions) and I can not remove SP1. What I would like to
do is install Windows SP Services and use it to publish my webs to the web
server... at this time I do not need the sharepoint services templates etc..
I simply want my existing web sites to publish as they are. Can someone
briefly outline of point me in the right direction on this?

I took one of my 'test' site and removed the FP extensions, then extended it
w/ WSPS... that messed it all up.. FP can not even see the site pages, and I
get the WSPS default apsx page...

Thanks for any help...

Doug

If SharePoint is installed, you can create a blank team site, and modify
that with FrontPage. But, some clarification please -- Are you looking to
have more than one virtual server on your machine, some running WSS, some
just FrontPage server extensions?

No - I would like to simply use Frontpage and WSS as the vehicle to manage
my site... I used FPSE's on my sites (6 of them) and have a test site and
the live site on the same server (the actually site locations are on diff
drives) - I connect to teh dev/test site - do all my edits then publish to
the live site... I don't use ftp because I don't want to keep my dev site
local to my laptop... this way I can 'work' on them no matter where I am
using port 80... Is what I am doing correct? my understanding is that you
can not use ftp and work without a local copy of the web.... Once I
installed sp1 on Server2003 - FP began acting up - I get many 'can't find
the web on port 80 msgs'" using it and I have to keep re-trying... i read
that sp1 hoses us the fp extensions... so - I thought that I could use wss
instead and remove the fpse's...

logical?
