    - Trying to input a chart based on list numbers I am not a developer. I have been tasked, however, to create a chart that looks something like one of those thermometer type of gauges that charities use to illustrate how much money they have taken in vs. their goal. In our case, we are migrating systems to AD all over the world. Management does not want to open all the regional lists to check status. These lists keep a running total as we enter a completion date each day. I have tried to use an excel spreadsheet, but I can't get it to save the results entered by everyone and it was a second manual entry for our engineers who extra data entry. Has anyone created such an animal before? It seems like a common enouh type of request. Any advice would be graciously accepted. Let me know if I haven't been clear about the requirements.     - Currency in Sharepoint Lists Hi There, I need to provision for a currency field in a Sharepoint list - the problem is however, that the currency that i would like to use is not available for selection in the currency drop-down list (the currency is Uganda Shillings - UGX). Is there anyway to extend these lists, and to add extra currencies in there? I have also changed the Regional Settings on the server to reflect the correct currency but this did not have any effect on the availability of this currency in the drop-down list. Thanks!     - Error accessing drop down menus I am using Microsoft Small Business Server, Microsoft Office 2003 and Windows XP on all my client computers. I created a timesheet list that uses drop down menus to â??look upâ?? information from other lists. I load this in Outlook 2003 by creating a new folder in the mail section. Then setting the homepage of the folder to the url of the employee's timesheet in Sharepoint. Some computers can access it fine. Of these there are two desktops directly connected to the server, one desktop remotely connected to the server (http connection). On certain computers (including two laptops remotely accessing the url via http or vpn, one desktop remotely connected via http and one desktop directly connected to the server). When a user tries to use a drop down there is no data in the list, it is completely blank. Then, if the user clicks the â??refresh dataâ?? option in the sharepoint window an an error message pops up saying: â??The datasheet view is attempting to retrieve data from a different domain. You will be redirected to an error page. Contact your system administrator to resolve this error.â?? When the user clicks â??OKâ?? the page changes to another sharepoint page titled â??Errorâ?? and has the following message: â??The list cannot be displayed in Datasheet view for one or more of the following reasons: A datasheet component compatible with Windows Sharepoint Services is not installed, your browser does not support ActiveX controls, or support for ActiveX controls is disabled.â?? If I then select â??Homeâ?? on the sharepoint menu, then select â??Documents and Listsâ??, then select the timesheet I was trying to use, the drop down lists now become available.     - different departments become different sites? I am setting up Sharepoint site with Frontpage for Engineering firm. They don't have Portal, just Sharepoint Services. It seems like I am going to need to create multiple sites for different departments - Human Resources, Marketing, Technical Resources and then have a top level site.     - Alerts triggered by a view Hello, I have a document library setup. Within that library, I have custom colums created. For example, when a user uploads a document, they have to choose a status which includes Final, Draft, or Pending Review. I created a custom view within that library to display only those documents that are labeled Pending Review. What I would like to accomplish is have a email be sent using alerts whenever a user submits a document that its status is Pending Review. I tried creating an alert on the view that shows only the pending review docs but that is not possible. It will report on the whole library. Any Suggestions?     - Alert when Opened I have asked this before but I am still looking for an answer or direction to an authority that can answer this. First off I understand the alerts process.     - Question root site I have set-up Sharepoint Team Services on our external server. THe virtual server is off the root of IIS. I create mutiple sites off that root like, marketing, engineering, intranet etc...They are all equal and each of them have sub-webs....The problems at each root site the navigation bar at top as an "up to team site" that navigates to a root site http://wwwroot .     - Document properties not updating the library metadata I thought I new the mechanism for Office document properties and the way Document library metadata is updated but this one is foxing me .. If I create a new document from the 'New Document' link in the library, i.e. use the template; save the document and populate some metadata from the dialogue box that appears; When I return to the library, none of the properties have been updated, not even mandatory ones. Now if I edit the document and look at the properties in Word - They are still there - fully populated!, and if I try again to change them they do not get updated in the library. If I use any other method to add a document to the library, everything is fine ?!? i.e. use the Upload feature to add a document then play with the properties it is as expected.     - Can _layouts/1033/*.aspx files be customised I have been customizing some of the files on my SharePoint sub-site using FrontPage 2000 (I don't have 2003) such as ../SharedDocuments/Forms/AllItems.aspx.     - How to store custom Information for Document Library Hi, I want to maintain my custom information in each file and folder of Document Library. For example i want to store my OwnID for File and Folders which should not be visible to the user at the same time when i migrate the site the Values of the File and Folders shouldn't lost.     - Migrating user listings to AD groups I currently have a WSS site structure with over 200 individual user listings. I would like to be able to create a listing of users and their applied roles, so that I could move them into the correct AD groups. Any idea how to do this? I can use STSADM with the ENUMUSERS command, but that doesn't show their roles on the site. I also took a brief look at the SQL table structure, but I couldn't seem to find anything valuable there.     - Adding the announcements web part to a document workspace I am trying to add the announcements web part to a document web space, but am unable to get it to work so far. I am signed in as the site administrator. I select Modify This Workspace under the search window on the main page of the document workspace. This web part is not listed in the first list of web parts presented, so I select show all lists. A longer list of web parts is presented to me, this list has the announcements web part. I select the announcements web part from this list. I am then asked to enter the Name and Description, which I do, I leave the Share List Across All Meetings set to No.and then I click on Create. Then the page is presented that shows any current announcements and I can add or edit them. So I add an announcement. This page is labeled for the document workspace I am in. The new announcement appears on the list, on the page where announcements are added and edited. Now I select Home which returns me to the first page of the document webspace but the web part I just created including the announcement I just entered is not visible. What do I need to do to get the announcements webpart I just set-up to display on the first page of the document workspace?     - Correct userinfo in WSS workspace I have implemented Project Server 2003, and have just rolled out to users. An administrator of a Project WSS workspace added a user through the "Manage Users" navigation, but inadvertently added the user with the wrong domain info, the admin got the e-mail address correct for the new user and the display name. In order to correct the mistake I have removed the user from the Workspace and tried re-adding him with the correct data. Problem is when the user shows up in the users list he shows as still having the worng domain (and of course the user can't access the site). I went poking around in the STS database and found the user information in a table named UserInfo. The user shows up twice in this table, once for each domain. I think this is causing the user to not be able to access even other WSS workspaces, even though in these other workspaces when the user was added, he was added the first time with the correct domain info.     - Can I receive an email so that I know there is something to approve? I have set up an Issues List in WSS and have the "content approval" flag set to yes. When a user posts an issue is shows up properly as "pending", but unless I look every day I wouldn't know that there are pending items. In most cases an administrator enters the items in the list, so their items always show as approved... This works fine and I wouldn't want an email to go out on this since no one needs to approve. Does the Issues List provide functionality to send out an email when a pending item is submitted? Are there other ways to make this happen?     - Allow all NT Authenticated users access to all sites? Hello, I have a collection of WSS sites used for Project Server. I would like to allow all of our domain users to access the WSS sites as readers. I can do it manually with each site by going to Site Settings, then Site Administration, and Manage Anonymous Access. I click the radio button to allow all NT Authenticated users read access. The problem is, we have over 1500 sites. Is there any way I can allow NT AUTHORITY\Authenticated Users read access to ALL sites without having to go to site settings? I am open to a SQL query solution too!! Please help!     - Files not visible in WSS document library folder A client has reported that their users couldn't see the contents of folders in WSS document libraries,when using Windows Explorer to navigate more than three levels deep into a folder structure. In other words, they could see files in folders in the roort of a library, and down into the folder hierarchy, up to two levels deep. When navigating deeper into the structure, they could see subfolders, but not any files. They reported that by increasing user's rights from "View, Insert, Edit, Delete" to View, Insert, Edit, Delete, Change List Settings", the users could now see files at any level in the folder hierarchy.     - WSS and configuration database on different servers I have users that install webparts (with a msi package) to different WSS configurations by use of stsadm.exe (addwppack). Users are logged on to the WSS server when installing. The windows installer require the user to have administration privileges There is problem when users have WSS and the configuration database on different servers and the user do not have administration privileges on the configuration database - addwppack fails.     - Web Part Gallery Issues Ok, I have one subsite that, when browsing for webparts shows 29 items in the general gallery. The first set of these displays nicely. When you click next, it takes you to an error screen that is utterly useless. Keep in mind that all I am trying to do is browse the webparts, not add any to the page yet. I checked the master web part gallery and it has a whopping 6 items in it and all work fine. I do not see the issue on any other subsites. Also, the filter doesn't work.     - Sharepoint & Outlook 2003 Hi, I'm trying to integrate Sharepoint and Outlook in some standard ways. When you create a meeting request in Outlook 2003, you can link it to a new or existing workspace. Any emails coming from the attendees accepting the request is then recorded against the workspace. This seems to be true if the sender has exchange as their mail server. I have tested the same scenario, but using a POP3 account, and my local SMTP server to send out the requests. It still created the Workspace and adds the attendees, but not the Responses coming back via email.     - FAILURE installing WSS with Active Directory auth I asked a question about setconfigdb (on Nov. 7), got no replies. I'm REALLY stuck. I'm trying to use stsadm to create configdb and use options for AD account creation. I always get the unhelpful message, "SQL Server 2000 Service Pack 3 or later is required", but of course my SQL Server has SP4. Can someone please tell me what options I should use for stsadm? I have: Windows 2003 Server as a domain controller and host of SQL Server 2000 SP4 and Active Directory. All service packs current. Windows 2003 Server as SharePoint host, nothing else installed. It appears the SP install is OK (yes, I used remotesql=yes). The application pool for admin site is running, and I followed instructions for user accounts - local admin as well as admins in AD. But I had to add STSFLTR manually to the ISAPI filter list for Default Web Site (probably because I installed remotesql=yes). But when I get to "stsadm -o setconfigdb ..." that's when I get the stinkin' SQL error. Again, what options should I be using? I didn't use -du -dp, because I've never seen an example where -du -dp are used. I assumed I had setup admin users correctly to handle the tasks ... but maybe I should specify user/passwd? If you mean that you have a German language version of say XP pro and you
are accessing a English language WSS site running on the US version of Win
2003 Server, then there shouldn't be any problems. You are only using the
browser.

Running a mixture of language versions of Server and WSS software on the
server *might* cause problems for uses of any browser version but I don't
think you were asking that.
