    - WSS 3.0/MOSS with SSRS 2005 Installation Issue Hello, In the past, I had installed SSRS 2005 prior to Service Pack 2 by setting up SQL Server, not configuring SSRS, installing SharePoint, adding two excluded managed paths for /reports and /reportserver, and then configuring SSRS. With the introduction of SSRS SharePoint integration mode, I don't know if this is still the preferred method. However, in my most recent installation, this managed path exclusion was not done and Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 was installed, which seemed to work correctly until rebooted and now all IIS sites only report "Service Unavailable." Can you please provide me some pointers of how to recover this situation and the best practices to follow for this scenario in the future (ex. use SSRS SharePoint integration mode or not)?     - Restrict viewing of certain items in a view by user? Hi, I have a sharepoint website containing a view of a list of documents created or uploaded by various users. When a user visits the site, I like to show only the documents uploaded by the original user. However, the standard show filter does not allow me to do this: "Created By" equal to "visiting user".     - Multiple line enhanced rich text editor width When I add a multiple line column to a list, I can edit the number of lines for editing, but I don't see a way to make the resulting text box wider.     - Design Question - Linking to Documents in Libraries Across Sites I have a site with subsites - all in one site collection. I have a couple document libraris in the master site from which I would like to link documents in the subsites. I'd rather not use a standard URL link. Something like the Content Query Web Editor web part might work - except it's limited in its ability to select groups of files without tapping into metadata of those files.     - When trying to restore Production site to Dev Site get "Access Denied" I am trying to create a Dev site for our SharePoint 3.0 Intranet. The Dev site is running on a Virtual Server. Everytime I try to restore using stsadm.exe -o restore.... I get "Access is denied. <Exception from HRESULT: 0x80070005 <E_ACCESSDENIED>> The string I enter is as follows: staadm.exe -o restore -url http://servername -filename backup.dat - overwrite Anyone have any ideas or run across this problem?     - MOSS 2007 + Forefront=Broken E-mail Enabled Libraries? As soon as I install Microsoft Frontend Security for Sharepoint on my Sharepoint 2007 config (which works fine) mail enabled libaries stop working with the error: "OWSTIMER.EXE (0x0950) Windows SharePoint Services E-Mail 6874 Warning An error occurred while attempting to create an attachment for an item sent via e-mail. " I have looked all over the web and nobody seems to be able to get this working, there are a few workaround but they then cause more problems. I can find no patch to fix the issue. In my opinion this means that this product is broken, e-mail enabled libaries are a key feature of MOSS 2007 for Forefront to break them as soon as it is installed is annoying. As soon as I remove Forefront Security for Sharepoint everything works again. As I'm stuck with Forefront (already bought) and the Forefront CAL's is there any way to make it work with e-mail enabled libaries?     - SPD created workflow generated emails // links Greetings, I've created a workflow using SharePoint Designer. When it sends an email to one of my users who runs MS Outlook, embedded links appear as text. She has to copy/paste it to a browser to use it. When I get the email to another email like (gmail in this case), the link appears as a link. How do I correct this?     - Create New User, User Information is not auto populated from AD Hi All, I have just deployed WSS in one of our server. When I authorized certain groups from AD to WSS, users of that ad groups are authorized to login to the server. However, we notice that user information, like Email Address, etc, is not auto-populated from Active Directory. The same things happen when administrator add directly certain username to WSS. The default view shows events from today onward. if i create a custom view there doesnt seeem to be a way to filter it that way. when i go to the filter options the "start date" column isnt an option.     - error while restoring? I am trying to restore my WSS 3.0 site to a different server (getting rid of the old server). I have a recent backup created using the Operations Console backup wizard. I copied it locally and launch the restore from backup link.     - Need help with site re-organizaton I have a WSS 3.0 site with about 10 main sites that match to departments in the company, Development, Federal Sales, Commerical Sales, Backoffce, IT, etc, etc. Many of the sites have sub-sites like Backoffice has accounting, hr, benefits, etc. All have unique permissions and not inherited from parent so we can control exactly who can see what. We just re-org and now I am being asked if I can put some of those site under a new highlevel site called Operations. So I need to move backoffice, it, pmo, under Operations. Any easy way to do this? Manually I could recreate and move the shared documents easy. I have no idea if I can move things like tasks, lists, links, discussions, etc. Help! In this case I think it is 'high-ranking' police officers who are aware of the persecution, they know a complaint has been made, and they're doing nothing. What is more, I don't think there is anything I can do that would make them take action, both because they may be being 'leant on' and through the wider view that it could be deleterious to the state to have a persecution by state organs exposed. Perhaps you the reader might not know, but lots of people in the media etc do. Remember, I was born in the UK and lived there until a couple of years ago. I don't think these people would condone state-sponsored murder of someone who might be seen on a good day as one of their own. b) Rather than doind anything directly, they're going for spying, verbal harassment, media harassment, every form of persecution short of the physical. Because as soon as anything turns physical, the police become involved; and unless it turns physical, the police can shrug and say 'not our problem'. So they persecute you and try to get you to react, either by hitting one of them (in which case I clearly find myself in the wrong as far as the police are concerned), or by trying to harm myself (in which case they can pretend they weren't responsible). It's a pretty unproductive form of harassment actually, because if you don't react then they're wasting they're time. First of all, I'd like to ask you to believe that my phone line in my apartment is bugged, and has been for many months. I have moved a couple of times this year, but "they" have faithfully been on my trail. Anyway, let's suppose my phone line is bugged. Now, when I talk to my internet service provider, it's over a SLIP (now PPP) connection. So if you wanted to bug what was said, either you'd listen in over the line and have to decode the transmission, or you could go to the service provider (more difficult) and ask them to decode a particular user's connection. OK, so now they're listening to everything I do over my SLIP/PPP connection. A couple of months ago I was messing around with faking articles through nntp servers and through anonymous remailers. I chose a nice inconspicuous newsgroup for my little tests, something no-one would ever notice. Guess which newsgroup I chose??? Yes, _FISH_!!! or rec.aquaria to be precise And guess what articles I tried to post? Goldfish, Koi carp and, you'll never guess... PIRANHA!!! The goldfish article and the Koi went through, but the piranha didn';t appear. by now you probably think this is too silly for words. But if you look in the papers a few eeks ago you will find John Major, Tonny Blair and Paddy Ashdown sharing a "private joke" about Major's sunburnt goldfish. We haven't had anything about Koi yet (they must be too dull ). Now, sent by someone who clearly knew what they were doing (they chose an Italian backbone site for their launch point) we have many thousands of messages to people all over the globe. All about piranha, and with the punchline "that gives you something to think about, doesn't it?" The way it works is that they're trying to kill two birds with one stone again. That was something the people at work shouldn't have known about... but soon after a couple of people were talking right in front of me about, "yeah, I heard he was attacked". Again, one I went for a walk in some woods outside Oxford. The next day, at work, someone said "you know he went to the forest yesterday". I don't want to put details on usenet of what happened because to do so would be to risk it happening again. If you put ideas in peoples' heads then you can find them reflecting back at you, and I don't want that. Also I can't remember that much from three years ago. The first possibility (deep breath) is that someone from my college set me up. Six years ago I graduated from university in the UK, during the last year there I was steadily getting more and more ill. I know that I was talking in my sleep; although I don't know what I was saying, it got me a reputation, and if someone from my college talked afterwards to the "wrong" people then that could be the reason for all that has followed. I think that's the strongest contender for source. Directly beneath my room lived another bloke who frequently had his friends round late at night, after the time that I went to sleep. So they could have heard what I was saying in my sleep, and that could have got me the reputation for "talking to myself". What I don't know is why that should have rebounded a year after I left. You'd think it would have happened sooner; it's a bit odd to wait for a year and then start abuse. The reason I think it might be the former is that I got quite a lot of abuse along the lines of "sound-alike" or "double-entendre" at work, in particularly from Steve.     - Some users are unable to access a site in sharepoint We have one of our sites that we have setup access to. We have a group that has view rights to this page and some users in this group get prompted for login when they try to access it. Most of the users in that group can access this page, but some cannot. I have attempted to add these users using just there user account but that does not work. I have searched to ensure that thier are no denies.     - Uninstall Sharepoint 2003 Error I must have uninstalled sharepoint services and portal in incorrect order and now I can't uninstall or repair to uninstall. Installer crashes out.     - Task list Assigned To email issue I am noticing a strange thing with our WSS 3.0 installation. I have several child sites and inside each child site is a Task List with Tasks assigned to users. People in one task list are getting emails when someone edits a task in another task list on another child site. The email shows that they were removed from the assigned to even though these users were never assigned to the task. Everytime that task is changed it emails them an updated email.     - stsadmin -o export can't get child site Hi peeps, I have one WSS 3.0 installation (w/SQL 2000 backend) that I have scripted backups for. I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong with the stsadm.exe command line to backup my 2nd site. site 1: https://mycompany.com site 2: https://mycompany.com/sites/global When I [stsadm -o export] the site 1 url it works fine, but the log file says that it's not backing up site 2. when I [stsadm -o export -url https://mycompany.com/sites/global...] then it only backs up the users associated with this child site, but not the content, which is what I need to have happen.
