Trouble extending Virtual server

When I extend a virtual server (using host header names).
I get a page that says Access denied. Then when I go to
the sites URL I get this message "The Web site that is
referenced here is not in the configuration database."

But if I go to the Virtual Sever List it shows the site as
being extended and the site has a content database.

What am I doing wrong?

Hi,
Check the application pool that the virtual server is
assigned to. It must be running under credentials that
have access to the SQL db.
