I am working with a neighborhood center that is trying to setup a public
website based on WSS. They have signed up with an ISP that offers WSS.
However, we are running into two problems trying to configure the site to
use one of the new templates.

The ISP is unsure of how to deploy the template to our top-level site. They
have somewhat successfully (see below) made the template available to
subsites.

The content of the template is displayed (lists, sample items, etc.).
However, the design scheme (colors, graphics, etc.) are not applied. It
looks just like a standard WSS site.

Since my only experience with SharePoint is in a single server scenario (and
I assume they have one of the more involved server farm setups), I'm not
sure what, if any, direction to give them in making this work correctly.

Any advice?

hanks,
Ed Lee

OK. I've actually gone through the installation, and I think that I've
answered my own questions.

The first thing that I missed is that there are two templates with the
download, "Basic" and "Custom." They were obviously installing the basic
template.

A simple command line install using addtemplate should make the template
available for top-level sites. Would this be as straigtforwad in a server
farm setup as it would be in a single-server setup?

Thanks and sorry for the post with such an obvious answer,

Ed

You rather sneaked that one in :)

I have unfortunately no idea (you do mean a WSS server farm setup - i.e.
load-balanced front-end and back-end SQL Server ?) The back-end SQL Server
shouldn't make any difference I'd have thought and provided you install it
on both load-balanced front-ends there wouldn't be a problem there either I
would think.
