We wish to post and control AutoCAD DWF and DWG drawings into a document
library however when we do so the icon against the file is not correct. We
would also like to invoke editing of the file in AutoCAD from the menu. Is
this possible?

Fir the first question - the icon - have a look at this WSS FAQ item

http://www.asaris-matrix.com/mvp-walsh/Lists/WSS%20FAQ/DispForm.aspx?ID=133

(How do I add icons)

You'll have to explain what you mean "invoke editing of the file in AutoCAD
from the menu." If it's what I think it is i.e. the equivalent of "Edit in
Microsoft Word", you can't. This functionality is only provided by MS for
the main Office products (and with Office 2003 a couple of less main Office
products)

[Hint: in future please post two different questions as different questions
