    - After installing SharePoint I can't run any traditional ASP.Net After installing SharePoint I can't run any traditional ASP.Net application on the same server. When I try to go to an ASP.Net application on this box outside of SharePoint, I get an error like this: Server Error in '/PA_DT_Manual' Application. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Configuration Error Description: An error occurred during the processing of a configuration file required to service this request. Please review the specific error details below and modify your configuration file appropriately. Source Error: [No relevant source lines] Source File: c:\inetpub\wwwroot\web.config Line: 0 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Version Information: Microsoft .NET Framework Version:2.0.50727.832; ASP.NET Version:2.0.50727.832 To resolve this I was trying exclude path using Central Administration--> Configure Virtual Server Settings--> My Web Site--> Define Managed Paths where path is /PA_DT_Manual, but doesn't work. After I was trying do the same by cmd ("STSADM.EXE -o addpath -url http://localhost/PA_DT_Manual -type exclusion") but still the same result. Can anyone help?     - How to display a webpart of one site on another site Hi! I have several sub-sites on my company's intranet (WSS 3). I have a marketing dept which has a document library webpart where it uploads it's documents and new catalogues. I need to make this part shown also in a Sales dept's site, so that whenever marketing uploads their content in their document library it will be shown on a Sales dept's page as well. Is it possible with WSS 3? So far, I created a page viewer webpart on sales dept's site that points to: http://websrv1/marketing/Shared%20Documents/Forms/AllItems.aspx However, the Sales dept's pageviewer webpart now looks terrible, since it also shows all other menus (left menu bar) of the marketing's site.     - companyweb images after reinstalling isa 2004 i have found that external clients can no longer view images in the sharepoint pages. This means that the images are relative referenced to an internal area. Internal clients work fine. Has anyone found this before? how should I fix this without compromising internal clients?     - User Rights to Workflow in WSS3 Hi, We want to start employees to submit online leave forms. To do this We have enable Three stat workflow and created choices option. However, all users have read access to this document library which means they cannot edit this leave form. What sort of rights should I give to users so that they can submit this document for approval. I have had a look at all the permission levels but dont want to give users to give too much control.     - more than one WSS 3.0 Web Application on the same server Hi there, I am having a problem creating more than one web application with Windows SharePoint Services 2007. I was able to create the first one just fine wioth port 80, but when I try to create a second web application, SharePoint says it create the web application and site collection just fine, but when I try to view it, I get a Page not found error.     - Integrated Marketing Campaign Tracking Site Template Has anyone been able to get the Integrated Marketing Campaign Tracking site template to work. I have tried it myself and have went to various other SP site that have samples/demos of the site templates. They all get the same error when you click on the Campaign Status Forms (Campaign A or B): "The following location is not accessible, because it is in a different site collection: http://spd-tsa2/gchan_imc2/Campaign%20Status%20Forms/Forms/template.xsn" If you tried to relink it in SP, you still get the error.     - How to limit search engine to specific subsite? Hi! I have a site that has several subsites for each department. Let's say company's main intranet site with Accounting, Sales, Production, etc subsites. I need to limit users to have search only within the specific site to which they have an access to. Let's say, people from Production must be able to make a search only within Production department site and not all other subsites. How is this achieved? If I set access permissions to Production "subsite" users only for accessing Company's main site and their Production "subsite" will this ensure that no documents from Accounting or other subsites are listed in search results?     - Displaying assigned tasks to user when member of a group When assigning a user a task, the task list can be filtered to show all the tasks assigned to that user using the [me] filter. However, if the task has been assigned to a group (of which that user is a member), the task is not showing up in his/her tasks. We want to be able to assign a task to a group and have any one of the group's members complete the task. Therefore my question is this: How can the task list be filtered to show not only those tasks the user has been assigned directly, but also the tasks that have been assigned to groups of which the user is a member?     - 404 File or directory not found. Hi, I have installed WSS 2.0 with sp2 on the windows 2003 server. When i try to create top level webiste on the defaul website.. it created it. When I try to apply the template for the created website, I am getting the below error 404 File or directory not found. Points to be noted: Asp.net 2.0 is applied in all the websites. Web server extensions have asp.net and Windws share point set to allowed. SQLServer 2005 reporting service is running and reports and reportManager are coming up while browsing the url. The server has two IP addresses assigned.     - incoming email messages only retrieved from one drop folder I've enabled incoming email for my SharePoint installation. We have two WFE servers, each running local SMTP in IIS. We are using the automatic configuration setting in SharePoint Central Admin, and the path to the drop folder is identical for each server. The permissions for each drop folder are identical--this includes the user that the Timer Service job runs under, as well as the 2 worker process groups (WSS_ADMIN_WPG and WSS_WPG). The WSS Web Application Service is enabled for both servers. Mail reaches the drop folder on both servers. However, only mail from one drop folder is being delivered to SharePoint; coincidentally, this is the server that also hosts the Central Admin site.     - What version of SQL am I using? Hi nd please pardon my ignorance or lack of knowledge regarding SharePoint and SQL. I have WSS 2.0 SP3 as well as WSS 3.0 SP1 running on my SBS 2003 SP1 server. Now when I look in Add/Remove Programs I can see that I have both MS SQL Server 2000 and MS SQL Server 2005 as well as all of the MS SQL Desktop versions that came with SBS 2003. When I use Enterprise Manager I see Console Root Microsoft SQL Servers SQL Server Group (Local) (Windows NT) Servername\SHAREPOINT (Windows NT) I've got a few questions and if you could please answer them for me it sure would help me understand a few things better. When I look under (Local) (Windows NT) / Databases I see the default databases I think. Master Model msdb Northwind pubs tempdb When I look under Servername\SHAREPOINT (Windows NT) I can see the STS_SERVERNAME_1 and STS_CONFIG databases which I know are the WSS 2.0 companyweb databases. 1. How do I determine which versions of SQL I am using for both WSS 2.0 and 3.0. 2. Where are the WSS 3.0 databases located. 2. Now I need to make an upgrade to Standard edition of SQL server 2005. How can this be implemented? Can I just detach my databases from Express and re-attach them to Enterprise?     - Forms Authentication using AspNetSqlMembershipProvider breaks search I have tried everything and can't seem to find a way to keep search working when using Forms authentication. Both of my production servers have borken search and I have been building and tearing down numerous VM's in an attempt to find a way to make it work. There must be a way.     - pages not opening up in Sharepoint designer trial Hi I downloaded Sharepoint Designer trial version to work on Sharepoint site list pages. It worked fine for few days, it let me open the code, design, pages, etc, howevere,. now when I try to open any lists/pages, it doesnt do anything. It displays all the sites and lists from SHarepoint, however, when I double click open a page to edit the .aspx page, the cursor goes into hour glass for 2 seconds and then back to normal cursor, doesnt open anything. I tired to look at the bootom bar too if its opening in another window.. no help.. If I right click on the file and open with notepad O can see the code there.. however I want to view the code in designer so that I can edit it accordingly...     - SharePoint site not getting Active Directory information! We had wss 3.0 installed on a regular workstation with Windows server web edition everything worked fine. We have now decided to move to using SharePoint on a more regular basis so we installed wss3.0 on a enterprise server with a separate SQL server. Backed up all the information from the original site and restored it to the new server. Since then we are not able to add new users that exist in Active Directory to the site, however you can add them to Central Administration site. What did we do wrong?     - RSS Feed being cached.. please help! This is driving me nuts. I am grabbing the daily dilbert feed on our portal site (http://feeds.feedburner.com/DilbertDailyStrip). This was working fine for a while, but now it has not updated since the June 8th (two days ago). I logged onto my sharepoint server (moss 2007), and verified i could access the site under the sharepoint account, and was not getting blocked. I then proceeded to add an RSS web part to a different sharepoint site, on the same collection (i only have one collection), and pointed it to that feed. That again, only showed feeds from before the 8th. I turned of the caching data view options for the web part, to see if that helped.     - Sharepoint services document libraries - replacement of shared folders? Hi, I have about 20 users on my network. They all work together in little departments and so need to share files. I have done this in the past using shared folders on network servers. Super standard stuff, its what everyone does. I do notice though that these folders have aboslutely no structure whatsoever, and they tend to just grow and grow and grow. I was wondering if I could get some feedback on whether Sharepoint Sevices Document Libraries lent itself to a better structure of folder (or site) hierarchy. I don't think at this stage that they willl use all the other features in Sharepoint Services so I am concerned that it might be a bit of an OTT project for me to undertake moving all shared folders on to Sharepoint, if all they are going to use it for is shared folders. Is that correct, or is there more to it than just being able to book document in and out, and version control? Is it easy to create and share sites. I am aslo concerned about storage and backups. What tools are there out there for this. Can I just do a SQL backup of the database and backup the website and that's it? How do I restore a single file. All help is appreciated.     - dataviews.... help please hi all I'm new to sharepoint\sharepoint designer etc but have the job of trying to build up a project management type area from scratch. I have the basics in place but am trying to create what i think needs to be a dataview. I have a milestones list and a tasking list. When i click on and view a milestone underneath i want to be able to see all the associated tasks that have that milestone associated. The tasking list has a column which looks up a milestone and allows the user to select one. I am using sharepoint designer to edit the dispform.aspx in milestone and then try to insert new datasource i then select the datasource by chooing the tasking list and then drag and drop the milestone field across. I'm not too sure what to do next. Have played around with the filter but cannot get the associated tasking to show.     - Need help with Search I needed to migrate a WSS 3 server to new hardware. It is up and running with the exception of search. I ended up creating a new Search database as the first one created when I installed WSS gave errors and would not run. I can start a full crawl and see the CPU spike and the search service and SQLServer running hard. The event logs show the search session run, master merge complete, etc. The Search MDF file is about 18M right now and the log file 15. The mdf file on the old server was about 36M... not a lot, but I could search for everything. I have checked via stsadm and search is set on the content database so it should crawl. I set the SQL ##SSEE and Search services to run under the same account that the application pool runs under. Search gives no results. Even for new content. Wait a day, nothing. Trigger full crawls, nothing.     - WSS 2.0 anonymous access Hello, I have a virtual server site on my sharepoint services machine. I am trying to get just this site setup for anonymous access. I have gone to IIS Management and made the site for anonymous access. Also, I have gone to the individual site settings for manage anonymous access and made the site so anonymous users can access entire web site. However, I am still unable to view the site anonymously. I get prompted to log in and if I cancel I get the unauthorized message. Access is denied. I'm leaving this here in case someone else experiences this..... I had activated a feature at the root of a new portal and after a little while I couldn't access All Site Content or Site Settings, or even use Sign In As A Different User. The change that I made hasn't taken effect because the app pool hadn't recycled itself. The easiest fix for this is to go to the affected nodes, open the web.config for that portal, add a space to the end and then save the changes. Voila, problem solved.     - PDF Files not indexed after installation of PDF IFilter 6.0 Hi! I'm trying to set up my wss site to index contents of PDF files. I've installed PDF IFilter 6.0 and followed instructions in the readme file. In fact, they only thing I couldn't do is Step 6 in readme.htm: 6. [SHAREPOINT ONLY] Add PDF as a file type to be included in the content index. On the SharePoint Site Settings Page, in the Search Settings and Indexed Content section, chose Configure search and indexing. On the Configure Search and Indexing page, in the General Content Settings and Indexing Status, choose Include File Types. On the Include File Types page, choose Add File Type. On the Add File Type page, in the File Extension box, type PDF for the file type that you want to add to the list of file types for the content index. Choose OK. Hi,
is it possible to sync Outlook 2007 with Sharepoint 3.0?
In other words If I have appointment A in Outlook and appointment B in
Sharepoint, can press something that will put a copy of appointment B
in OL and appointment A in WSS?
I have connected the wss calendar and can see it in Outlook and it is
checked as active. I can copy from OL to the wss calendar with a drag
and drop. I can add a wss appoinment from the OL UI. Can I
synchronize the two?

You can have a copy of a WSS 3.0 calendar in Outlook 2007 (where it will
be alongside the Outlook calendar) and synchronize (both ways) between
the Outlook copy and the WSS 3.0 original.
