Hello,

I have a somewhat (in my experience) obscure problem.
Let me first give all software versions:

Outlook 2003sp2
Exchange 2003 (sp unknown)
SharePoint Server 2007/SharePoint Services 3.0 (?)

My expertise is with Office applications: Word, Excel, Powerpoint,
Visio, Project and of course Outlook.
I have superficial knowledge of Exchange, other people administer it.
I have even less knowledge of SharePoint.

Our problem:
We have an address list in SharePoint.
This address list is added in Outlook.

When people send mails with attachment to receipients on this
SharePoint address list, they arrive as winmail.dat for non-Outlook
receipients. This is the dreaded RTF/TNEF problem. For normal
addresses, it is easy to fix: just configure the address to receive
mail in plain text format, not in Outlook RTF format.
See http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=138053 and
http://pages.prodigy.net/michael_santovec/decode.htm#ms-tnef (yes I
did my homework)
But the addresses in the SharePoint address list are read-only in
Outlook. It' snot possible to change them.

Since I only know Outlook, I'm a bit at a dead end. The person
administering SharePoint is willing to make changes, if I can tell
exactly what to do. Which I don't know. So that's why I am here.

Any suggestions?

Please don't send messages to both .windowsservices and .portalserver

.windowsservices is for WSS 3.0 (and 2.0) only - if you have one of
those post there.

.portalserver is mainly for SPS 2003 and MOSS 2007 so if you have one of
those post there.

But never to both.

Simple really.
