When a user with read only rights enters one of the
libraries and tries to open a PDF file, it returns the
error FILE DOES NOT BEGIN WITH '%PDF-' Anyone could tell
me why is this so?
thanks in advance.

There's been a similar message posted to a Direct Access newsgroup (paid
support).

The (usually good) MS support guy came back after a few days and said that
he had discovered that this was a PDF file / Acrobat problem and that the
person sending the message should contact Adobe support.

I was hoping that there would be a solution there ... But maybe you can pick
this up anyway.

There was a follow-up in Direct Access over the weekend/ today when someone
else asked the same question.

Now the replier had more info and suggested (using Acrobat 5.0) the
following steps (which I think he got from Adobe)

1. With Adobe Acrobat program open and running, go the Edit pull down menu.
2. Choose Preferences.
3. Select Options from the left column in the displayed split screen.
4. In the Web Browser Options section, uncheck "Display PDF in Browser.
5. Then click OK and click Close.
