I'm new to SharePoint and I want to get to know it. I installed SBS
2003 on a clean server. The admin tasks show the SharePoint central
admin page is there. I can't find my SharePoint home page anywhere. I
don't know if SharePoint services isn't right or active directory or
what. I don't have SharePoint Portal installed, but I didn't think I
had to. My company home page that comes with SBS is there. My
computer name is testserver. My domain is varcom.local. Help. Thanks.

Windows SharePoint Services (WSS) is installed as part of a SBS 2003
installation (you don't need SharePoint Portal Server unless you want its
additions to WSS).

The implementation of WSS in SBS 2003 is slightly different to the standard
implementation but mainly only in minor issues (such as standard WSS not
having Fax support - see
http://www.asaris.de/sites/walsh/Lists/WSS%20FAQ/DispForm.aspx?ID=182)

Your problem seems to be at a very early stage and is probably part of the
SBS 2003 installation rather than part of WSS as such. The SBS 2003
installation includes the creation of something called "companyweb" which
again is in the SBS 2003 version only.

If you (as seems likely) have not yet seen or been able to access companyweb
("I can't access my SharePoint home page"), I suggest you post to the SBS
newsgroup at microsoft.public.windows.server.sbs as you are still in the SBS
2003 installation phase.

Thanks for your help.

What do you mean here by the "SharePoint home page" ? My understanding of
the SBS 2003 WSS was that companyweb was the home page ...

Can you list URLs for both the SharePoint home page and for companyweb ?

Sorry but I have only a minimal knowledge of SBS 2003's WSS (mainly just the
different functions)
