I have downloaded and successfully installed SharePoint Services on my
Windows 2003 Server. I am now ready to begin making nightly backups. But I
cannot run the command line STSADM utility, nor can I locate the .exe on the
server. Where can I download the utility?

Hi,

If you run Sharepoint in an other language stsadm will not be in
*Common Files* but the traduction for it in your language. For exemple
in french it's located in : C:\Program Files\Fichiers
Communs\Microsoft Shared\web server extensions\60\BIN

SellUmHi in both his messages writes in perfect English.

So I think it's fair to presume that he's running the English language
version of the OS and WSS as Ian does.

Isn't it in any case the Operating System that *translates* "Common Files"
into another language and not SharePoint?

Hi,

Of course we can suppose he runs Sharepoint in English. But if he can't
find the tool we can also presume that it's not situated in the
'common' location where he has probably have a look (google stsadm, and
you find the path within seconds).

My goal was not to say that Ian was not right, but to add some
information to help SellUmHi.

Where did I mention the translation was done by Sharepoint ? I only
stated that on a different language the product is installed in a
different directory.

"If you run Sharepoint in an other language stsadm will not be in
*Common Files* "

Nothing there about the Operating System needing to be in another language
just "Sharepoint".

---------------------------

On the other hand I now understand your reasoning for pointing out a
possible different location to the standard location !

So we can call it a draw.
