Hi All,
I have a drop down box that is required. Unfortunately when it is required
the field defaults to the first item in the list, as opposed to (none).
Which may be overlooked by the user as something they need to change. I am
looking at a few ideas, such as javascript but am wondering if there is a
better or more Sharepoint way of accomplishing it.

Thanks!
Garet

As this (defaults to the first item) is the way WSS out-of-the-box works it
looks very much as if this is a WSS programming question (including
naturally javascript but not excluding any more SharePoint way of working)
so it should instead go to the subnewsgroup we have specially for WSS
programming (creating web parts; using web services and coding) which is at

microsoft.public.sharepoint.windowsservices.development

that's in any case where you'll find experts in answering this sort of
question.

(This newsgroup is for everything but WSS Programming questions as defined
above.)
