Hi Mike
On re-reading my original post I probably wasn't very clear in the scenario.
In simple terms the situation is:
As a user I create a new word document. From Word I then decide to create a
document workspace for this document so that I may collaborate with fellow
workers. Only myself and those users can actually access the workspace (and
therefore the document). At some stage in the authoring process I decide that
this document is now ready for "public" consumption so I want to "publish" it
to a corporate document library that everyone can access.
The standard functionality of WSS means that I have to either:
a) Open the document in word --> Save As --> select the required document
library
b) Upload the document in to the library (from a saved location)
c) using sharepoint explorer view copy and paste the document from the
workspace to the library
If I had originally created the document in the library (say a blank
document) and then created the workspace using the drop down menu 'create
document
workspace' feature, I could at any time choose to publish the changed
document from the workspace back to the library.
The thing is that the user's are more likely to be creating the document in
a workspace and then wanting to "share/publish" it to the rest of the
business (ie. library).
I hope this is a bit clearer.
I have also now posted the question in the development group as suggested. I
originally posted it here hoping that there was already a third party product
available that provided the functionality.
