    - SharePoint List Time Column I am experieincing an issue where when I add a date & Time column to a list, such as the Shared Documents List it will use the current date AND time. When I use a Date & Time column for any other list such as tasks it will default to then next full hour. This is a problem because the task doesn't get posted to the webpart until that time elapse.     - Farm/Web/Site Administrator Unable to Edit Document Libraries, This is driving me nuts and any advice is truly, truly appreciated. I have a subsite with unique permissions that will not let those with "Full Control" edit properties of a list. I can add items to lists, I can add members, I can edit items. I can't do other things, which is the part driving me nuts. Can't create views, edit columns, edit title/description, etc. with a list item. When I go into Create all I can see is the "Web Pages" heading (Basic Page, Web Part Page, Sites and Workspaces). http://img103.imageshack.us/img103/6174/20080722093302qn8.jpg I can still get into Site Settings just fine.     - Sharepoint Site Displays and Behaves Incorrectly on Client Browsers. Hi. We recently deployed MOSS 2007 in our organiztion. After much customization and tweaking, we were finally ready to launch, but a test deploeyment showed that quite a number of users could not view the portal properly. That is, once they signed in, certain features were displayed incorrectly, or menus didn't work at all.The SITE ACTIONS button absolutely refused to work for such people. Including the document library buttons. Also on the MySite pages, the display was a bit broken; certain text was too large and things like the 'Create Blog' buttons were misplaced on the page. Also, on these user's systems, the site acquired a 'Skip to main content link' at the top right. that doesn't appear on mine, Normal links work fine, but it's totally useless to such people because they can't access many features. I have absolutely no idea what could be causing this. It seems very random, it happens with people with IE6, IE7, Winxp SP1, SP2.... Ironically it works fine on other browsers like Firefox, so I'm thinking it's the browser. I don't know what to do. Any ideas??!?     - problem with sharepoint search I have a problem with my sharepoint configuration and can't figure it out. Because of another internal site running, I changed it to use port 81. The problem I think is that there are still some items somewhere showing port 80 which is causing a problem. I'm getting event 2436 every 5 minutes about the 'search index file on the search server' saying 'object not found 0x80041201' I've been looking around under application management and i see the web application there and it shows both 'sharepoint - 80' and the administration. problem is, i deleted 'sharepoint - 80' and created 'sharepoint - 81' and the search doesn't show port 81 which is why it's failing because it isn't running on 80. the sharepoint site itself is running fine on 81. still learning sharepoint so not sure where to go from here..     - SPD Dataview puzzler Here is a little puzzle for you WSS/SPD veterans to figure out. The scenario is that I have a small WSS 3.0 site going. There are now 10 subsites, each with the usual libraries and lists. In the libraries, the uploader of a document must enter values in at least two added metadata columns that define the document's scope (5 possible values including 'General') and classification (9 possible values). Each library typically has a only folders at the 'root', and each folder can have sub-folders, etc. The 10th site is a wiki where users can discuss the various classifications. Management wanted a listing of the relevent documents from the other sites filtered by scope and classification shown on the wiki pages. No problem, sez I! I had done this sort of thing in a 2.0 site. And with the increased versitality of ver 3.0, should be no problem. So I fired up SP Designer, added the libraries, and created the dataview. Then in Dataview Properties, selected "Item and folder scope" value as "Recursive" instead of "Default" so the folders would be eliminated, and... "The server returned a non-specific error when trying to set data from the data source...." Of course, at this point I was no longer able to set parameters, filters, sorts, etc. Very frustrating! However, at some point in the head-banging process, I discovered that if I save the page _with_ the error, the dataview renders perfectly in IE!! But no matter how I generated the dataview, the same error would pop up in SPD after selecting anything but "default". Eventually, I developed a work-around, which was to set all the filters, sorts and other parameters, including formating, hyperlinks, etc EXCEPT the "Item and Folder scope" value. To do this, I had to upload a dummy file to the 'root' of the Library, as I could not set all the Data Source parameters if there were only folders there. Then, as the final step, selected "recursive". Immediately, the error is generated. But when I save the page, the new DataView renders perfectly in IE! I am NOT a programmer, XSL and I are merely nodding aquaintances, so I must do 90% of any sharepoint customization in a design tool such as SPD. And to answer in advance some of your suggestions... The decision to use folders in the Libraries is concrete. Some of the Libraries are expected to grow into the hundreds of files, so practical managment of these files by typical corporate users dictates a familiar orgaization of the files, Additionally, we will be switching most users to to use their Sharepoint sites as their Default locations for MS Office. However, the dataviews were requested in a no-folder format. Go figure. So- my questions after all this are... Has anyone else come across this SPD bug? Is there a easier work-around than the one I described? Is there a fix for this- a setting change, etc? I would like an better method of generating these dataviews, as there is no way to edit them, unless you really know XSL, once the error has occured. I Googled this problem and came up with some people who posted similar problems, but none of the inquiries generated a reply. And I did not find this exact problem addressed at Microsoft.     - Migrating User accounts and SQL server to a new Domain Hi This is a 2 part question. Scenario. We have SharePoint Services SP2 on Windows 2003 SP2 set up on our Web server in our DMZ Domain. Domain = "DMZ". We have an internal corporate domain. Domain "LAN" We were recently aquired by another company and we will be migrating all our current user accounts to a new child domain in the new company. Domain = "Child" We will be using the Active Directory Migration tool to move our our accounts from Domain LAN to Domain Child. Will I need to reset all the access permisions for our users once they have been migrated to the Child Domain or is there a tool that can be ran on the Web Server (Or else where) that can I dentify which users had a LAN\Useraccount and create them a Child\useraccount logon to SharePoint services with the same permisions. Question 2) Can I change the domain that the SQL server holding the back end database is in from LAN to Child without breaking anything? The Web server sitting in the DMZ Domain will remain in the DMZ domain. There is no plan to rename this domain. Thank you for any help or advice that you can offer.     - Sharepoint Services 2.0 If this is not the place for me to post this please let me know so i can post it in the correct forum!!! Server --- Windows Server Standard Edition 2003 SP2 Yesterday I applied the MS Updates on my servers and rebooted them. Every morning i check each of the servers Application and Services event log just to make sure everything is running smoothly. This morning on one of my servers in the application event log there is are 100's of error messages (basically every 30 seconds from the time the server was rebooted after the ms updates): error message: Windows Sharepoint Services 2.0 Event # 1000 Category None description: #50070: unable to connect to the database STS_Config on servername\sharepoint. check the database connection information and make sure that the database server is running. for more information see help and support center at: http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events/asp. The Workflow can be manually started from any document, and it creates a new item in a Tasks list. The Workflow completes succesfully if the new task is assigned to a specific user. The Workflow fails if the new task is assigned to a SharePoint group. The .dotx file has standard content in it and I created a bunch of Building Blocks that I hoped would save directly to the template. I have been asked to set up a 10th site that contains, among other things, a dataview listing of the files in a library on site2. The problem is that this library uses folders, with each top folder having two or more subfolders. In the dataview that Sharepoint Designer gives me, I can only list the top folders. The user would like to see a sorted files-only list (the folders should not be shown), much like one of the views he has set up in the library itself. Is this possible? I have tried making the files-only view in the library the default view, but that does not seem to change how sharepoint creates the dataview. I tried setting the Properties of the Data Source to "Files Only", but that does not change anything. I am not a programmer, and the only tool at my disposal is Sharepoint Designer. I'm thinking smart cards, certificates and things like that. Also, does anyone know if you can have different web applications in WSS 3/MOSS using different authentication methods, e.g. a standard site collection using ordinary windows auth and another more secure collection requiring the use of a smart card or something similar? Just one more, is there some way of encrypting the documents in a Sharepoint SQL server database so that database users would just get junk if they tried to extract a document record from the DB but Sharepoint can retrieve and decrypt the data using a certificate or something similar?     - Add 100 GB of Data I am hoping this is the right place to ask, if not please point me in the correct direction. I am currently running a Windows 2003 server and WSS 3.0. Honeslty I can't remember how big the current Hard Drive config is, but that is irrelevant. I have to add 100 GB of data to the site and I don't have that much room.     - Usage analysis processing is not running I'm having trouble with Site Usage Report in WSS3 SP1. In the Site Settings, the Site usage report says "A usage report is not available for this site and bla-bla". While I have configured "Enable logging" and "Enable usage analysis processing" in the "Central Administration > Operations > Usage Analysis Processing". I also see the job definition in the Timer Job Definitions area. stsadm -o getproperty -pn job-usage-analysis -url http://... returns <Property Exist="Yes" Value="every 1 minutes between 0 and 59" /> however nothing happens, except the following in the log file OWSTIMER.EXE (0x12734) Unknown SPRequest error occurred.     - Web Part Error: This page has encountered a critical error. Hi, I have problem with WSS v.3 migration from one farm to another. Old farm uses Windows Web Server 2008 x64 as frontend and Windows Server 2003 R2 SP2 x86 with SQL Server 2005 SP2 x86 as backend. The new farm uses Windows Server 2008 x64 as front end and Windows Server 2008 x64 with SQL 2005 SP2 x64 as backend. For migration I use Backup and Restore through SharePoint Central Administration Web. Both farms are installed in Manual account creation mode. I have tested new farm, if I create new WSS Application on it it works just fine. I performed restore through SharePoint Central Administration on new farm and it finished without errors, also I made iisreset /noforce after restoration. When I navigate to restored website I get the same error on every list and main page: Web Part Error: This page has encountered a critical error. Contact your system administrator if this problem persists. I have tried to restore several different WSS sites from the old farm, but error is the same on all of them.     - Maintaining hierarchy Dear colleagues, In a custom list; I would like to implement a directory that may have the following options: 1.) Categories may contain subcategories and so on. 2.) An item may belong to more than one category or sub-category. For example: If Microsoft company would be included in the directory and we have some categories such as: 1. IT 1.1 Software 1.2 Hardware 2. Finance 3. Research and assuming we would like to add Microsoft web site to the directory and that it belongs to (1. IT), (1.1 Software), (1.2 Hardware) and (3. Research), figuring out a suitable approach causes me headache! The reason is that I'm limited to not using any thing other than Sharepoint. I implemented a content type of type folder in order for me to maintain the hierarchy of categories; should an item belong to a single category or sub-category, then another content type in the list of type item would work just fine; however, the intersection of association as in the Microsoft example doesn't make that approach suitable. If would use a webpart, that would be some how ok, but I must leave the user use the standard default "NewForm" and "EditForm". Some may wonder, why not using the Site Directory; it's an approach being studied at the moment, but the current approach is to use a custom list.     - Newbie permission error I can't figure out who the website administrator is I have Sharepoint 2.0 running on SBS 2003 R2 and it appears that the dbo of the STS databases are a group SBS Admin of which I am a member. The Administrator of the domain is also and administrator. Each time I attempt to make changes, the permissions are denied. Is the website administrator a service account? Can permissions be set through SQL server by adding another user to the STS databases with dbo permissions or is it really convoluted?     - Filtering an imported list by user Hello, I have imported an excel spreadsheet, one of the columns contains the customer (Agent). I wish to filter the list so that users can only see the items which are relevant to them. The only way I can see to do this is to manually create a view which filters by their name, but there are too many customers and different views required to make this feasable. I've tried filtering using the Me function, (which returns exactly the same text as that which is in the Agent column), however, it is searching for the text "=PROPER(RIGHT(Me,LEN(Me)-9))" rather than the calculated value... The user didn't create any of the items, so how can I filter it to display only the relevant ones? It's been driving me mad, thanks for any help.     - Inbound e-mail file names converted to lower case I've enabled incoming email on a document library and although the attachments I send to the list are added to the list, their file names are always converted to lower case. Has anyone seen this?     - Paste image from clipboard into control? I am trying to adapt the HelpDesk sample SharePoint template for use in logging I.T. service requests. Users balk at the fact that there is no way to paste an image from the clipboard (e.g., explanatory screen shot) into the Service Request list item. On a test instance, I changed the "Details" control type to "Enhanced rich text", but pictures must be saved to files to be inserted. Any ideas? I've been using this site for several months now without a problem.
Today I added a new list & changed the Quick Launch ( nothing more )
and all of a sudden the resolve.aspx doesn't work anymore.
I've tried resetting this page to the site definition with no result.

I haven't changed anything programmatorically, all via the standard
WSS 3.0 interface
