I have a sharepoint services web established and want to have open access for
all readers on the top level worksite.

Under "site settings/site administration/manage anonymous access" only the
"Nothing" option is available the other options ("entire web", and "lists and
libraries") are grayed out.

How do you activate the other options? --
Thanks for your assistance and willing sharing of information

Hello,

This is caused the anonymous access was already disabled in IIS. You can
open IIS manager, right click the site and select Properties/Directory
Security, click the "Edit" button in Authentication and Access control,
check "enable anonymous access here and reopen the SPS admin page.

Hope this help,

Luke

This is actually the WSS newsgroup and so presumably this is a WSS question
not an SPS one.

The answer was also in the WSS FAQ at
http://www.asaris.de/sites/walsh/Lists/WSS%20FAQ/DispForm.aspx?ID=121 which
was found by searching www.wssfaq.com with "gray" when it was the only hit.
(oddly "grey" doesn't find it)

It's also the second hit with "anonymous access"

I recommend this site to LC for future problems preferably before he posts
here.

Engelbert

P.S. Why don't you use 'your name + [MSFT]' and not just [MSFT] ?
