How can one edit the 'News for You' webpart that is available to be put on
their personal site?
Mine seems to contain all portal listings that ever existed, even ones that
have expired and are no longer on the portal.

if u aim your listings at 'all portal users' then they will appear in the
news for you webpart.
The expired ones may not be on the news page (it may be set to show latest
5) but still available in news for you

This is the newsgroup for Windows SharePoint Services not for SharePoint
Portal Server 2003. It covers only WSS problems that are common to all WSS
implemnetations.

The only WSS implementation that has My Site ("personal site") and a News
for You webpart is SPS 2003 and these features are thus not common to all
implementations.

Please post questions on them only to the SPS newsgroup at

microsoft.public.sharepoint.portalserver

(Dave, please refer people posting SPS 2003-only questions to that newsgroup
rather than answering them here. People using standalone WSS; WSS in SBS
2003 and WSS in Project Server 2003 do not want this newsgroup full of SPS
questions)
