Okay my problem: When accssing my sharepoint Intranet site from an www PC
using its external IP address (uisng XPsp2), I am first propmeted for a logon
thats fine.
After that I get multiple long screens whilst the home page is loading.
After lots of data is not available, some icons are missing and when i click
on a subsite i get the follwoing message:
Server Error in '/' Application.
The resource cannot be found.
Description: HTTP 404. The resource you are looking for (or one of its
dependencies) could have been removed, had its name changed, or is
temporarily unavailable. Please review the following URL and make sure that
it is spelled correctly. :

Right my setup is w2003 server r2 running Sharepoint Services (with service
pack) using ssl encryption 128bit. The server is set to Intergrated Windows
Authentication (i have tried basic too) anoynomus auth is off.

I have noticed that a few ssl warnings come up after the initail logon upon
vieiwng these it is trying to use an addtional certificate that is actually
installed on a different server (my mail server which uses ssl for OWA) could
that be whats causing the problem.......................?

Hope I have supplied enough info if not ask away. Many thanks

The easiest way to troubleshoot this is to hit your site on a non SSL port.
How does it work then? Also, you mention you're hitting it externally, how
does it work with and without SSL internally? It also sounds like you make
have the wrong SSL cert. While that shouldn't lead you to a 404, it will
make things more complicated.

Try without SSL and let us know what you find out.

Hi, Thanks

I have resolved it. What it was in the end is i have nat set up on my
firewall ro redireect port 444 tcp requests to the internal ip of the
sharepoint server but with an internal port number of 443 (my firewall doesnt
support one to one NAT)!!

Now as I had 443 in use already in my org it was fireing off to the other
server half way through loading the page...........so I change the ssl port
on the server to 444 and bob was my uncle all sorted. Many thanks :)
