can anyone point me in the right direction?

We've had this before, so if it wasn't you who posted that query, search the
newsgroups in Google Groups / Advanced Search to see if that earlier query
got a good answer.

(If it was you, please use "Re-post" in future ...)

hi mike,

thanks for your reply.
it wasn't me who posted it before. i actually searched google (groups)
before posting and couldn't find anything answering my question. i did find
some stuff about modifying the search (for example, to only search one list)
but it was all developer related and way over my head.

is there a simple drag, drop, point, click method? :)

thanks!
dave

It'd be nice. wouldn't it. (I've tried in the past to move mine on the
www.wssfaq.com site just a bit using FP 2003 and failed miserably).

All I remember about those early threads is that the simple methods of
moving it in FP by just grabbing the box etc. didn't seem to work for anyone
(and I share your feeling on those other methods ...)

[Oh yes, answer the question - I don't think so.]

Let's all wait for Ian Morrish to give a link to his site where he's done it
:) !

Yea, it is a bit tricky, but where there is a will...
http://www.wssdemo.com/newdefault.aspx

The trick seems to be that the <SharePoint:ViewSearchForm ID="L_SearchView"
Prompt="Search this site" Go="Go" Action="searchresults.aspx"
runat="server"/> control includes <td> tags of its own so can mess up your
table layout if you don't put it inside your own <TR> and it can't be hosted
inside a zone.

Next challenge please :-)

Hi Dave,

As the suggestion from Ian, in Frontpage 2003, you can cut the code below
from the original place into anywhere of the page as you like.
<tr> <SharePoint:ViewSearchForm ID="L_SearchView" Prompt="Search this
site" Go="Go" Action="searchresults.aspx" runat="server"/> </tr>

Please feel free to let me know if you have any question.

Thanks Ian - it's a good location you picked too.

On my sites I quite often have to scroll (often) to get to where the search
box is now. This looks really handy.
