Client is Windows XP Home Edition with current Microsoft Updates. Client is
a member of a local workgroup. Server is Windows 2003 SP1 running WSS 2.0
located in a remote Colocation facility.

When connecting to the site, the Client prompts for UserName And Password,
but there is no option for saving the UserName and Password. Login is
successful but the user must continually reenter credentials.

All other Clients at this location have no problems saving their
UserName/Passwords. Suggestions????

Hello,

Did your user browse the WSS site with a server name like, hhp://MyServer,
or a url like http://www.MyDomain.com?

If with "http://www.MyDomain.com", It will be considered as an internet
site and the password may not be saved. To work around this, you may add
the url in the "Trusted Sites" and try again.

Sincerely,

Luke Zhang

Note: The MSDN Managed Newsgroup support offering is for non-urgent issues
where an initial response from the community or a Microsoft Support
Engineer within 1 business day is acceptable. Please note that each follow
up response may take approximately 2 business days as the support
professional working with you may need further investigation to reach the
most efficient resolution. The offering is not appropriate for situations
that require urgent, real-time or phone-based interactions or complex
project analysis and dump analysis issues. Issues of this nature are best
handled working with a dedicated Microsoft Support Engineer by contacting

Thank you for the reply. The web site is accessed with
http://www.mydomain.com and the web site is in the "Trusted Sites" zone.

As an experiment, the site was changed to use Basic Authentication. In this
experiment, the "Remember My Password" checkbox appears, but the
Authentication box is displayed on each visit to the site. Thus, we went
back to Integrated Authentication.

Any further ideas???

Thanks

Hello,

As I understand, only one of your users has such a problem and all other
users have the option "Remember My Password" when they access
http://www.mydomain.com. (if I am out of base, please feel free to correct
me).

So, do other users also add the site in trusted sites? If so, you may have
them check the security settings in their IE: Tools/Internet
options/Security/Trusted Sites. You may compare the settings between the
users (who have "Remember My Password" and the one doesn't have) to see if
there is any difference here. Especially, for the options: "User
Authentication\Logon"

And the security setting, in the Advanced tab:Tools/Internet
options/Advanced/Security

In addtion, Is it possible the particular user is behind a proxy or
firewall, which is different from other users?

Sincerely,

Luke Zhang
