Second Try for information on this service

This service is giving me fits, I run server 03 in a nondomain (test =
bed)=20
environment. The issue is that this service, required by the document=20
library refuses to start. I am wondering if I missed something in the=20
requirements. Does the document library service require MS exchange to =
be up=20
and running, I hope not as I dont really want to have to build a domain =
just=20
for the testing machine and I dont want the test machine on the main =
domain.

No, document libraries are not dependent on exchange. If you can be
more specific on the issue, I will do my best to help, but your
description is rather vague.

the status of the service never changes from starting to started, this
cuased the boot and shutdown times for the computer to go through the roof.
This is all the information I can give as I have the service disabled in
services.

Jon,
Exchange was never a requirement for sharepoint or for document
libraries (unless you have sharepoint portal server 2001, or installed
the optional backward compatability components, and if you did - WHY?)

I suggest you tell us step by step what you did and whats the problem,
so we can help.
