So I was trying to get something to work and went to the Central Admin Web,
Services on Server and thought I'd to a Restart (stop/start) on the WSS
Service.

I clicked stop, The page came back as not found, then in IIS Manager, the
Central Administration Web vanished.

it was set up as a specific port and now there are no webs with that port or
the old name.

So I created a new Web, with the same port, and pointed it to the WSS
Virtual Directory and its not letting me see the pages. Gives a 403,
Forbidden.

Help!

Other sites seem to work fine.

Thanks,
Scott<-

Hello Scott,

Thanks for posting in the newsgroups.

Based on my experience, if we stop the Central Administration service, we
will not able to view the Central Administration site, and "SharePoint
Central Administration v3" disappears from the IIS manager. We should rerun
the SharePoint Configuration wizard, and choose remain in the farm.

I suggest you delete the newly created web and rerun the SharePoint
Configuration wizard.

Sincerely,
Robert Zhao
