I am using windows sharepoint and I am uploading sales orders into the shared
documents. The shared documents view shows "type", "name", "modified", and
"modified by" as fields, but I need to create my own fields to provide
information about the document such as customer and ID number. I was
wondering how I could go about uploading a document with this type of
information onto sharepoint.

You can create a Customer field. If you have a known list of all
customers you can make it a Choice type field so the right customer can
be selected on upload document.

You can use the built-in ID field for an ID number (starts at one per
list(library)

ok thanks Mike that works but is there a way to get other custom fields other
than just ID and customer I have like three more fields that need to be seen.

Can't you follow the same general principles for them ?
