I'm wondering if there is a way to get a WSS list to scroll horizontally. I
have a list with some large text fields, and would like to limit how many
rows of a field show up vertically and allow the screen to scroll
horizontally. The other option would be to limit the amount of text displayed
and allow the users to select and item if they want to see the remaining
text, similar to how the General Discussion entries work.

Thanks!

Scrolling is not part of the standard product.

To see if anyone has coded this (I've not heard of such a thing in earlier
postings) consider posting to the new development subgroup to ask for coding
solutions.

Thanks Mike, how about the other idea of have a way to limit the amount of
text shown on a list, with the ability to select an item to get the entire
text, similar to how "discussions" work.

Thanks again!!

Apart from the possibility of using a web part of the list (so you can both
have a special View designed for the web part restricting the number of
items AND specify a small area on the page for the web part to take up), I
don't know of any way to do this. [and that probably wouldn't be too
satisfactory.]

Looks like a (complicated) programming amendment to me rather than an
out-of-the-box function that requires setting something in the UI.
