Hello,

I just installed SharePoint Services 2.0 on Server 2003 (both with the
latest updates). When I open SharePoint Services I receive the following
error:
System.InvalidOperationException: Unable to generate a temporary class
(result=1).

Can you explain this

"Specifically I get this message within the Computer Options section."

I have used WSS 2.0 since the early betas of it and haven't come across a
Computer Options section.

Please also say what you did on the server in detail after installing
Windows 2003 Server on a new disk and before running the WSS 2.0 install.

Mike,

I installed Server 2003, SP1 and then all updates from the Microsoft
Update Site.

I then downloaded WSUS 2.0 with SP1and installed it.

When it opened the WSUS Admin console I received the message below. When
I go into the Comuter Management section, there are no computers (and the
group policy does direct comuters to this server for updates) and the
message is displayed on the left hand side.

In message one you installed WSS (Windows SharePoint Services - you wrote
"SharePoint Services" which is what this newsgroup covers so logical) but in
message two you installed WSUS.

I'm (not for the first time) confused.

Mike,

Not as confused as I was. I posted on the wrong site - Duh
However I have corrected the problem by uninstalling and reinstalling.

I thank you for your time.
