We have 64 Bit Server running Windows Server 2003 SP1, we had to amend
the IIS to run in 32 bit emulation mode so that our ASP.Net 2
Applications would run on the server.

The problem is that now we cannot install WSS 3 on the server, the
only way I can get WSS 3 on the server is to switch the IIS back to 64
bit and install the 64 bit edition of WSS . However, then our
exisiting 32 bit ASP.NET Applications will not run.

At present I cannot see how to install/run both WSS 3 and Asp.Net
applications in 32 bit mode. It seems strange as all the other
applications such as reporting services will run n 32 bit mode.

Has anyone had the same issue or does anyone know if there is any way
to get this configuration to work. Otherwise we might as well get rid
of the 64 bit windows server 2003.

Any help, insights or advice would be much appreciated,

Thanks

Is it absolutely required to run IIS in 32-bit emulation to have
ASP.net applications co-exist with 64-bit WSS 3.0??
I thought WSS was a 64-bit app and that there exists a 64-bit ASP.net
for running ASP.net apps on 64-bit W2k3 servers.
Thank you, Tom

Greg I found this:
http://quickstarts.asp.net/QuickStartv20/aspnet/doc/whatsnew.aspx
64-Bit Support. ASP.NET 2.0 is now 64-bit enabled, meaning it can take
advantage of the full memory address space of new 64-bit processors and
servers. Developers can simply copy existing 32-bit ASP.NET applications
onto a 64-bit ASP.NET 2.0 server and have them automatically be JIT compiled
and executed as native 64-bit applications (no source code changes or manual
re-compile are required).

You should be able to run your ASP.Net 2.0 App in a 64bit Environment if I
read the Right.

If only it were theat easy. This works as long as you compile your
application to Any CPU and you are not referencing ANY 32bit
components, and as we reference some for PDF generation, email
generation and scanning we need to be able to run IIS in 32 bit
compatibility mode to make this work.

No matter what I try, there just does not seem to be a combination
that will work for us, it looks like we are going to have to ditch the
64-bit server and start again.

Thanks for taking the time help.
