I have tried everything and can't seem to find a way to keep search working
when using Forms authentication. Both of my production servers have borken
search and I have been building and tearing down numerous VM's in an attempt
to find a way to make it work.

There must be a way. The search service runs under a service account that
also runs the app pools, etc.

Can anyone point me in the right direction to get search working again?

Steve

Hi Steve

Indexing a forms authenticated site isn't working in SharePoint (it is working in Microsoft Search Server and rumors
says it's going to work in MOSS SP2)

For workaround see: http://wsssearch.com/formauthentication.html

Thank you, thank you, thank you!

This has been driving me nuts for a while. I almost tried an extended web
app, but I didn't think it would work. It did, search is restored.

I am not sure about Microsoft Search Server. I already tried it and it
didn't work either. I used the Express version, though. Maybe the full
version is needed... At more than $9k, though, it's a bit out of my budget.

I think I am going to test Search Server Express again on a pristine system
with forms auth and see if I can get it to function.

Thanks again for your help.

Steve
