A newbie, at home, have 2 pcs: One with core2duo, 4gb other p4 with 1gb.
First one would have wss3.0, other sql server. When installing it asks for
existing farm for complete install. The question is: Should I make the sql
m/c child of WSS one or vice-versa? If domain is example.local (on core2duo)
what info should be supplied to indicate the sql server m/c? Could anyone
please guide? Thanks

It's not a father /child relationship.

They are just two different servers in the domain.

The key thing is to install SQL Server first so that it is there when
you install WSS 3.0 so you can during the instll of WSS 3.0 tell it
where the SQL Server is that it is to use.

P.S. Don't use Basic Installation !
