Error when sending email alerts

Hi,
I have installed SBS2003 at a client site. There is a problem when sending
email from WSS web site.
When I add a new user and check the 'notify user by email' option and press
next I get this error:
"The user or users have been added successfully, but there was an error in
sending the e-mail message. The server may not be set up correctly to send
e-mail..."
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Probably better asked in the sbs2003 site
(microsoft.public.windows.server.sbs) as you will be using the built-in
Exchange server included with that environment.

But in basic terms look at your definition of your Exchange server in WSS.

Hi Neal,

This error usually occurs when you haven't told WSS wich SMTP Server to use.
To do this go to WSS Central Administration and on the first page there's an
option regarding the email server configuration. I can't tell you exactly
wich option it is because my version of WSS is in portuguese.
