    - Using Document Library fields in another list Hi everyone. I'm trying to build a custom list that has some values, and one of them should be the name of a file which is stored in a document library. When I try to create the column as Lookup, and get the info from my document library, I get only ID field and Title field. Title field is filled only when it is modified manually or in the document's properties, but I cannot access Document's name information. Do you know how to do this?? I am thinking on a workaround:to make the defalut value of Title the same of the document name, but it doesn't allow me either. Any help would be highly appreciated. Thks, Nicolas.     - Microsoft CRM took over the default web site We have installed Microsoft CRM v 1.2 on the same server as our WSS, and now I cannot access any of the SharePoint sites that were available prior to the installation of the MS CRM product. The only virtual server listed in the virtual server list is the Microsoft CRM virtual server @http://<servername>/ The only 2 web sites listed under IIS in the server management console are (1) Microsoft CRM version 1.2 (2) SharePoint Central Administration Is there any way I can restore or reconnect to the previously created SharePoint sites?     - How to stop alert in this situation ... I just found out that the Sharepoint Timer Service was stopped about a couple of weeks ago. I have started the service and now I am getting tons of alert emails because last 2 weeks I have moves thousands of files from a file server to the Sharepoint server. I stopped the service now but now I want to know how to clear the qued alert messages.     - Opening Attachemnts in New Window I'm trying to let user open Attachments in Tasks to a new window. I've searched high and low for this, all I get is a way to make Links open in new window. However, that doesn't really apply to attachment. I cannot do it with front page because it will only let me put a target=_blank when there is already an attachment (ie won't work on a blank task).     - Custom lists sending emails when integrated with pwa I am currently using the issue and risk lists. I would like to create a custom list and have the same features of the issue list (send email notifications to the assigned to individual when the issue is created/modified). Is this doable? It looks like since WSS is integrated with PWA, it will not let you create custom lists that have the issue list features. I have tried creating issue list template then incorporating the list into the sharepoint, but no such luck. Any info on how to accomplish this would be greatly appreciated.     - User Gets Log In Pop Up Even When Not Actively Using WSS Hi, This is a follow up to the earlier post. The user is not actively using WSS but continually gets a log in box for username and password. It appears that something in the Belarc BellMonitor software was doing this. We use that to upload the hardware/software profiles of work stations to a database. Had the user change the BellNotify settings to get the proxy sttings from Internet Explorer.     - Add stock search to intranet This may be more advanced than it originally sounds but is there a way to add a stock search to my SBS Sharepoint intranet? I found the default MSNBC web part that allows stock symbols to be added either globally or for each user. What I'm looking for is a way to allow users to type in a symbol and have data displayed.     - Accessing document library via Web Folder - problems with caching? Hi all, When accessing a document library via a web folder on a SharePoint 2003 server, how exactly does the caching work ? It seems as though I must manually "refresh" to get the latest version of a file. Further, the IE cache settings don't seem to have any effect on web folders. Do you have any information on how this works or is this "as designed"? For example: 1. I open any document library such as <file://servername/sites/is/shared documents> with Windows Explorer. Documents appear and I can edit them. 2. I create a new word document and save it. 3. User 2 opens the document via windows explorer and can see it just fine. He closes it. 4. I re-open the document and add a line, save it, check it in if necessary. 5. HERE's where the problem occurs: User 2 opens it again and sees the old copy from step 3, i.e. without the added line. 6. User 2 closes doc, uses "View" and "Refresh" in windows explorer, and re-opens document 7. User 2 can now see the current version of the document. The short of it is that the user has to manually refresh before opening any and every document to make sure he is getting the current version. This is neither desireable nor practical for day to day use. There is no problem accessing the correct document via the regular web pages. Any light anyone can shed on this would be appreciated.     - Sites and Workspaces Problem For some reason not all subsites are showing on list the first time you view the list. If I leave and go back, all of the subsites then show. Steps I take to reproduce the issue: 1. Go to the site homepage and click the "Site Settings" link. 2. Click "Manage Sites & Workspaces" * I will see a list of a couple of sites. 3. Click the "Home" Link. 4. Click "Site Settings" link. 5. Click "Manage Sites & Workspaces" * I will now see all of my sites. For that we have installed the Sahrepoint Services on our W2K3 Web Server running an IIS and holding our company homepage.     - Need more information on Office 2003 Spreadsheet Web Part We have a spreadsheet that several of us modify on a daily basis, that I would to manipulate thru the spreadsheet web part. I download the necessary pieces for this web part, including the Add-In for Excel 203, and have Office 2003 Pro installed. Using the Add-In for Excel, I create the necessary files in a doclib. Then I import the .dwp, add the web part to my site. Now, if I update the data and click save, where is the data saved? I would have expected it update the corresponding xmlss.xml file in the doclib, since my webpart points to a solutionspec file which points to it. However, if I checkout the XMLSS.xml file and view the .xml file, it doesn't include the changes may to the spreadsheet view. If I make changes in the XMLSS.xml file, then check the file back in, refresh my page, my spreadsheet webpart is not updated either. Are these two supposed to be connected? Do I need to use "Connect to Data"? Should I be able to manipulate the .xml file as well as the spreadsheet web part and changes are sync?     - Hide documents in word dialog Is it possible to use a SharePoint document view in the save/open dialog in word when creating a new document. I have deleted the "All items" and "Explorer" views and created a new shared view that only shows the documents that the user have created himself. But when the user creates a new document from sharepoint and saves it in Word he/she can see all documents stored in the document library.     - Lookup field in meeting gives items from all meeting data. Hi all, In a meeting room, in the list decisions, i made an extra lookup field, to select the appropriate agenda item. For each date, i can see the correct decisions, agenda items, etc. But when i insert a new decision, the drop downlist also shows agenda items from all other meetings on different data.     - Online webpart gallery I'm unable to connect to the online webpart gallery. Before it just used to say that the webpart gallery was empty, so I did a bit of googling and found out that i was required to add <system.net> <defaultProxy> <proxy proxyaddress="http://proxyip:proxyport" bypassonlocal="true"/>; </defaultProxy> </system.net> So I added those lines just above system.web in the web.config file. I restarted IIS and now i'm presented with the following error. Cannot open the Online Gallery. The site server has not been configured to support an online gallery. For more assistance, contact your site administrator.     - SharePoint Lists: Conditional Formatting of a Calculated field I realise that there have been posts about this before but I never found a suitable solution that I could use to solve my problem. I have a calcualted field called Review Date in a Sharepoint list which is (Modified+30) When this field is less than or Equal to Today i want it to go red. I have done this many times via FrontPage and it works fine but becasue I am using a calc Field it doesn't like it. The formatting shows up fine in FrontPage but not in IE.     - List Item - Copy & Modify Folks For Items in a List, I am looking for Copy & Modify functionality. Something like on the item display form I can add a simple button to copy the item being viewed and open NewItem form pre populated with its values/contents taken from the item that the user was viewing. User can modify the fields that he wants and save it to the list as newely created item. Can anyone point me to any commercial/shareware/freeware utility that I can add to the site? I have a custom list with a combination of many fields. There are frequent additions but most addition requires a minor change (like new Effective Date or Price) while rest of the content remains the same.     - add pictures to contact list Hello. In WSS, is there an easy way to let users upload a photo to their entry in Contact List so that the photo is displayed along with the listing? The built-in method of doing this is to upload first to a Picture Library, then copy & paste the URL into a "Pictures" column in the Contact List.     - Uploaded List Template I have saved a list as a template. I then downloaded the new template to my hard drive. Next, I uploaded the new template to a different List Template Gallery. I can see the uploaded template in the List Template Gallery, however, when I click on Create within a site that is in the site collection, the new list template is not displayed (I have also tried other sites within the collection..the list does not appear under 'Create' in those either). DUring the instalation process all the web sites and subwebs received the possibility to use the web part. Now I have much more sites and I wouldlike them to have the same web part available.     - Include content does not work for meeting workspaces Hi, When i try to save a document library as a template the checkbox "Include content" is greyed out. I only have this issue when the document library is created in a meeting workspace. This issue already occurs even when i create a new basic meeting workspace and immediately try to save the auto-created document library as a template (without making any modifications).     - SharePoint File Locks Has anyone got a fix for this: I have a problem with Word documents getting locked in document libraries. I believe it's a bug. It happens for us when connectivity is lost between Word and SharePoint. Try this to recreate: 1. Create a new Word doc in a document library and save it. 2. Close Word 3. Open the document for editing 4. pull network cable 5. close word without saving 6. plug cable back in 7. try to open word document for editing. 8. weep, wail and gnash your teeth for your document is locked until doomsday. As far as I know there is no-way through the UI to EVER unlock this document. We usually open it Read-Only and save it back with V2 appended to the file name.     - Folder paths & "Document could not be edited" errors I'm wondering if anyone has seen or has any documentation about errors with "Edit in Microsoft..." commands in folders with long path names. We're seeing the following: -Folder1\Folder2\Document.doc works -Folder1\Folder2\Really Really Really Really Really Really Long Name\Document.doc fails. The error is "The document could not be edited.\nThe required application may not be installed properly...". *NOT* the Office Version error. The activex code that causes the error isn't available, and I haven't yet done enough trial and error to determine the apparent character limit, but something is definitely up. This happens on multiple PCs. All are running Office 2003. This looks very much like some sort of arbitrary hardcoded limit on path names, but I can't find anything on any MS resource about it, and can't believe we're the first to see it.     - Calendar columns not formatting correctly on Safari browser I am experiencing issues with Sharepoint Calendar component: Multi-line content are not wrapping within the calendar column when viewed in Mac Safari browser (ver 1.2) So whenver the calendar data is content is more than a one-liner, the content spills over to the adjacent column overlaying the adjacent's columns content.     - Move Document and History Is there any way for an end user to move a document and its version history from one folder in a document library to another? For a Word document, for example, I can edit the file in Word and Save As to the new folder. That copies the current version of the document to the new folder but not the version history. I got this error once when I deleted the content database that was create by
SharePoint. I added a content database and wanted to change to using that
one but apperently the original db has some site specific content in it.
Did you delete or rename the database?
