    - post to discussion board from a sharepoint list suing workflow Hi, In my project I have a idea posting list where an end user submits an idea. It has fields like name, category, date and so on. Now once the user posts an idea and once the owner reviews it and allows for it to be posted, the idea has to be posted to a discussion board where the users will start discussion about the idea. I am not sure how to achieve this functionality where an intermediate process is involved. I am trying to use SharePoint workflows to do this but I am sure this is feature is not existing in the built in workflow actions. Please let me know how to achieve this.     - WSS 3.0 Image Gallery annoyance Hi, In WSS 3 image galleries, if you select multiple images by clicking on check boxes it doesn't go away when you re visit (or even login again). Therefore, every time you need to email or download images from this gallery one will need to uncheck all previously checked (selected) images.     - WSS3 Did myself in I could use anyone's help. New to WSS3. Front -end is on W2k3r2sp2 with all udpates. Back-end is on another box, also w2k3r2sp with sql2005 fully updated and service backed. Everything worked great. Created and application and site. Accessible form several locations on the local lan. added thing to it. life was good. ultimately, i want internal and external access and single sign on? so I thought during this early stage I would look at the different security options. I originally had it set with not allowing anonymous and windows integrated. life was good with this at first. I want to see what my local users would notice if I selected Digest Authentication so I did it, tried it, still ok. I unselected digest and selected .net - tried it, got the wizard about connecting to a .net passport, etc I did not complete the process as I just want to see what a user would get. So, here's where my issue comes in - I went back to iis and went back to my original settings - deselect anonymous and ONLY selected windows integrated. Since this I have two issues that I don't know how to shake and could use a hand. #1 - On the front end server itself, I go to my sharepoint site, it asks for credentials, I supply them a few times and then get the 401.1 invalid credentials. However, I can go to any other machine on the lan and login to the site just fine using those same credentials. I am logged into the machines as the same user as well. I stuck at why the front end server itself won't accept the same credentials I can use elsewhere anymore? #2 - On the machine where I tested with the .net passport enable, every login prompt is now of the .net passport style login instead of the plain jane prompt - for example, normally its just a grey box with user, pass, save checkbox and OK. Now, it includes the .net passport logo and links to get a passport etc. I tried completely resetting the browser to defaults but still can't get back to the plain login prompt. It still functions as far as logging me into my sharepoint site, but I'd like to figure out how to get back to original. Can anyone offer any tips or help? Thanks Tag: Employee Portal? Tag: 60547

    - credentials prompt accessing list anonymously WSS 3.0, 2K3server I am having issues with a site that's set up to have anonymous access. Everyone can access the site great (the whole application is set to anonymous), all of the pages are great. But when someone outside of the office wants to add an annoucement to a List, for example, they get a surprising credential prompt. It's the oddest, and most frustrating, thing. Any thoughts? As a note, when I am internal, I do not get a prompt. I have anonymous access enabled in IIS but also Windows Authentication. If I create a Header its mandatory that I give it a URL.     - Event 2436 on Sharepoint Services?? I am new to Sharepoint Services 3 and it is installed and running with SQL 2005 on a separate box. All boxes are fully service packed and updated and at Windows 2003 Server R2 SP2 plus patches. I am getting a warning event 2436 every 10 minutes that the sharepoint content connected be indexed and to check the default content access account. I've tried reconfiguring it in central admin with no change. The default content access account on central admin says not to use an admin account and that the account I specify will be granted rights. So, not sure what to check into here. I did locate one KB article that deals with this, but its relates to portal server which we are not and have never been running, only SPS 3.0 plus latest patches.     - Showing an initiation form for an automatic workflow... Hello, What I'm looking to do is create an initiation form that displays for a workflow that is initiated automatically, as opposed to the user clicking Workflows from the item drop down. I've worked with ASP.NET association and initiation forms with no problems, but they were always user-initiated. I tested one by selecting the checkbox to start a workflow when a new item was added. The initiation form did not display and I received an error. This all makes me think that it isn't possible, so I may have to go the EventReceiver route, but I honestly don't know if that will solve my problem, either. Any suggestions or input would be great!     - Alerts for surveys Hi, We have WSS 3.0 configured with a survey that people are logging in and using. Upon completing the survey we would like an email sent out to the person who completed the form, however we seem to be having some issues with this. Firstly, we have set the permissions to allow people to only see their own survey results, and now we can not set up any alerts. Secondly, after changing the permissions to allow people to see all responses (temporarily whilst we test the email functionality), the options for the alert appears to notify you whenever anyone submits a survey. Does anyone have anything similar set up or any ideas how we can achieve this without having to allow people to view everyone elses survey results and notify them when other people have submitted a survey response.     - IIS Web servers / SSL / Single Sign-On Hi, we have three servers (one with an dedicated Active Directory, one with Windows Sharepoint Services + SQL 2005 and the last with Reporting Services). The Windows Sharepoint Services is published on the Internet with the URL https://portal.customer.org (the certifiate used comes from a root authority installed on the dedicated domain controller). The homepage on the Windows Sharepoint Services is composed of several webpart and especially the reporting services webpart. As this webpart is displayed through an IFRAME, we had to publish the reporting services web server on the internet too (so we have https://bi.customer.org). The result is not very good as when a customer is accessing the Windows Sharepoint Services, he has to authentificate two times (one time for the https://portal.customer.org and another time for getting access to https://bi.customer.org). We added both sites on the trusted sites zone but he has no effect. Of course, we didn't had this problem when reporting services was installed with Windows Sharepoint Services on the same server (as /Reports and /ReportServer was accessed by https://portal.customer.org). However, we had to split the services on two separate servers because we had some performances during the cubes processing. Is there a solution to bypass the second authentication request ? As we are authenticated on the first server (https://portal.customer.org, why the information is not returned to the second server (https://bi.customer.org) as both servers are using the same Active Directory ? Is this because we are using SSL (this could be a security feature to block the "automatic login with current username and password" option in Internet Explorer when browsing SSL web sites).     - need help restoring search databases I moved my server and restored to a new one, all works but the search. I am using WSS 3.0. Someone on the board told me all I had to do was delete my search databases, drop them from SQL, delete them, and restart the search service to recreate them. Problem is I dont know how to do all that SQL stuff so I can delete them. They are in use and even if I stop services they are still in use?     - Moving site to new server Hello, we moved a site using Microsoft Sharepoint Services to an new server (backup&restore) a few months ago. This worked very well and the systems runs fine without any problems but one. The notification-emails still point to the old server, so they contain dead links only. I am looking for things like: - how many site collection owners should there be? at least two?     - WSS 3.0/MOSS with SSRS 2005 Installation Issue Hello, In the past, I had installed SSRS 2005 prior to Service Pack 2 by setting up SQL Server, not configuring SSRS, installing SharePoint, adding two excluded managed paths for /reports and /reportserver, and then configuring SSRS. With the introduction of SSRS SharePoint integration mode, I don't know if this is still the preferred method. However, in my most recent installation, this managed path exclusion was not done and Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 was installed, which seemed to work correctly until rebooted and now all IIS sites only report "Service Unavailable." Can you please provide me some pointers of how to recover this situation and the best practices to follow for this scenario in the future (ex. use SSRS SharePoint integration mode or not)?     - Design Question - Linking to Documents in Libraries Across Sites I have a site with subsites - all in one site collection. I have a couple document libraris in the master site from which I would like to link documents in the subsites. I'd rather not use a standard URL link. Something like the Content Query Web Editor web part might work - except it's limited in its ability to select groups of files without tapping into metadata of those files.     - When trying to restore Production site to Dev Site get "Access Denied" I am trying to create a Dev site for our SharePoint 3.0 Intranet. The Dev site is running on a Virtual Server. Everytime I try to restore using stsadm.exe -o restore....     - MOSS 2007 + Forefront=Broken E-mail Enabled Libraries? As soon as I install Microsoft Frontend Security for Sharepoint on my Sharepoint 2007 config (which works fine) mail enabled libaries stop working with the error: "OWSTIMER.EXE (0x0950) Windows SharePoint Services E-Mail 6874 Warning An error occurred while attempting to create an attachment for an item sent via e-mail. " I have looked all over the web and nobody seems to be able to get this working, there are a few workaround but they then cause more problems. I can find no patch to fix the issue. In my opinion this means that this product is broken, e-mail enabled libaries are a key feature of MOSS 2007 for Forefront to break them as soon as it is installed is annoying. As soon as I remove Forefront Security for Sharepoint everything works again. When it sends an email to one of my users who runs MS Outlook, embedded links appear as text. She has to copy/paste it to a browser to use it. Is there anyone out there using WSS 3.0 to be an employee portal? By
this I mean a secure and private area that employees can log in and
have for example a document library for paystubs, access their home
dir throught that web part, etc.?

My concern is it may be a lot of adminstrative effort creating the
sites and maintaining them.

For example, each pay period someone would have to manually copy the
PDF paystub into the doc library for each employee subsite.

Also, it would be nice to have dynamic content like benefits info on
how much vacation and sick time they have, this could be pulled from
a central database, but not sure how to dynamically link it to each
specific employee subsite.

Just querying the board to see if anyone has done anything similar or
ideas?
