Hi,
In WSS I have found that users can create duplicate entries when creating a
new list item (announcements, events, contacts, etc) by pressing the "Save
and Close" button more than once when the WSS/IIS/SQL server is busy.
Normally it does not seem possible to press the "Save and Close" button more
than once, but if the server is busy it is easy to do and WSS lets users do
it.
Additionally, input forms that have a lot of multi line fields with a lot of
data entered seem to exasperate the problem by taking a second or two to
close. Edit item forms produce a "Save Conflict" error message if the "Save
and Close" button is pressed more than once.
This problem is evident with a 1.5GHz CPU, 768M mem server running Win2K3,
IIS6, WSS and SQL 2K server (all latest WU patches, it fails on pre and post
WSS sp1). If I load the CPU with the Windows 2000 Resource Kit CPU stress
utility to 50% or more the problem shows up. Client machines that
demonstrated the problem include Win2K3, Win2K and WinXP all with IEv6.
It would like Microsoft support to validate this issue.
Thanks, MikeC
