Hi,

I have an awkward problem. We have broad catagories of documents eg Health
and safety policies, standard procedures etc and within these broad
categories are forms

The problem is that a form library is generated for each form so I have
loads of these seemingly unconnected libraries that do not relate at all to
the category that they belong to. How can I include these libraries so that
they appear within a list view for the related category? Is there a way that
I can move these forms into a folder (called forms say) and get a list view
of the forms within the forms folder? Or perhaps I can somehow move the
folder into the document library that the form relates to

Way beyond my league. Can anyone help with these two issues

Thanks

Ian

Could you explain how it is that your forms are always going into different
forms libraries?

If you are uploading forms to a form library you can choose an existing
forms library and I'm almost certain that this applies too when publishing
forms to a forms library from InfoPath.

As I understand it... a form library is created for each new form. within the
library is the template for the form. All the form responses (when the form
is filled out) are also stored in the form library for the specific form. I
am generally happy with this. Where I have problems is that my forms also
belong to a document library (for example an accident form is part of the
safety library). So the logical structure is one issue... I need to present
these documents in the same library. It would be great for example to have
the form library within the document library and if I generated a data view
of the document library it included the forms that are subordinate to that
library. Is this a possibility or is there another way

The physical layout of the files is another issue. Currently the libraries
are created under the web root so it going to get messy. I suppose I could
place all the form libraries under a forms folder but Infopath seems to only
publish to the web root. I could drag the form libraries to a "form" folder
once they have been created. Is this normal practice?

Cheers

Ian

I'm going to hope that someone who uses forms actively is going to come in on
this. Could you say whether this " a form library is created for each new
form." is done through code you have created yourself; done when you create a
form from InfoPath or what other action causes the form library to be
created. I still don't see that info in your reply.

Hi Mike

As I understand it, a document library spectific to the form you have
created is automatically set in place by sharepoint. the actual form you have
created is contained in the library "forms" directory as the template and the
form submissions are the library documents. No other documents can be placed
in the form library and no documents can be moved from the library.

Ian
