1. There is overhead at least for the indexing (assuming you are running SQL
Server 2K with Search switched on), and there is I've always assumed some
overhead for it being stored in the database as an image/blob + very minor
overhead for pointers to it etc.
2. With version control on a new copy of the file gets saved every time
changes are made (and probably more often that you expect - with Properties
changes also producing a new version etc.) There is also no limit on the
number of versions - you have to delete manually.
