i am running win2003 with the latest updates, wss v3 but not sharepoint

portal server. when i create a data view (in sharepoint designer b2tr)
in a web site that references a list in another web site (same virtual
server) i get and errer that says "the list that is referenced here no
longer exists" and the dataview dies. ie. it returns a non specific
error. any help would be appreciated.

I wouldn't personally use SPD and especially not an SPD beta with WSS *2.0*.

Use instead the FP 2003 that matches WSS 2.0 and I would expect that you
wouldn't have any problems. It will only offer you options that are valid
with WSS 2.0 for instance.

Stick to SPD 2007 with WSS 3.0 (and use the RTM version of SPD :) )

I am not using wss 2.0. I am using wss 3.0 and frontpage will not work
with it. That leaves me with SPD 2007 to customize with unless you know
of something else. the B2TR is the latest version that I am aware of.
is there another version, possibly the finished one.

Sharepoint Designer 2007 is available to MSDN.
Sorry if that is not helpful, but ...
I never had much luck with the Beta, but I didn't spend much time
(so much else to explore)
The staged Office 2007 rollout
(MSDN->Enterprise->Shrinkwrap)
will pose some challenges over the next couple months.

thanks Mike. I got the post beta release off the msdn site but it still
does not fix my problem. if I create a dataview in a site ie.
http://web/site1 that has its data source located on http://web, it
loads fine (exccept you have to format user names to rich text) but
when you hit the filter command to filter the list it gives me "the
list that is referenced here no longer exits". this basically makes v3
unusable for us. if I cant fix this soom, we'll be going back to v2 or
something else entirely.

thanks for your help

Ooops, apologies. Could I have read "2003" and then "WSS" and connected the
two?

Or is it simply that I needed stronger glasses....

Whatever it is, it seems I'll have to start reading properly.

As David said SPD RTM is on MSDN but I tried twice to d/l it and it died at
99% both times, so good luck.

Mike and David

I appreciate the lead on the final version SPD but that still does not
solve my problem. has anyone tried to use a data view from another site
(same virtual server) and get it to successfully filter?
