WARNING: Inexperienced SharePoint Services user here. Is there a way within
the SharePoint Services UI (i.e. without resorting to editing in FrontPage)
to customize the QuickLaunch bar? For example, rather than grouping all the
document libraries together, could I group them with lists and discussion
groups covering the same subject?

Also, is it possible to have the QuickLaunch bar appear on pages other than
the home page (i.e. Contacts, Lists, document libraries). It would be highly
useful to create a site navigation that's always available wherever you are
within the site without having to go back to the home page.

Sorry for the very basic questions -- I've played around with the site tools
for ages and haven't found a way to do what I want. I'm becoming frustrated
that the much-touted "highly flexible" nature of SharePoint Services is not
all it's cracked up to be without FrontPage!

Use FrontPage 2003 anyway - you'll find lots more uses for it especially
when using it's Data View functionality.

and only the Admin needs a copy so the cost shouldn't be a problem.

I had a feeling FrontPage would be the only way. Thanks!

Warned by everything I'd read about FP in the earlier releases I used it
very sparingly with STS (the forerunner of WSS). But FP 2003 is a class
product that offers some really useful functionality for WSS sites (some of
it so well hidden I haven't come across it yet ...)

Mind you, you can still mess up a site. (See www.wssfaq.com in Firefox -
full screen it's fine but try making it half size (i.e. vertical full; half
width). The result of making amendments in FP 2003 and only checking them as
I went in IE not Firefox.
