Hi all, I have a WSS site that is part of a portal. The
original website was created on a server with only WSS
installed on it, the site was then saved as a template and
the template was imported to the new Server with SPS on it.

I then created a new site on the SPS portal, using the
original WSS Site Template to create the new site.

Strangely enough, I can make changes with FP2003 to the
protal web, but I cannot make changes to the site.

Anytime I try to save any changes I get the dreaded "The
server unexpectedly closed the connection" message. I
repeat, this only happens on the site, not on the portal.
I have not tried creating a site from the generic
templates yet to see if that will make a difference,
however I will do so shortly.

Does anyone have any suggestions in the meantime.

Thanks ...C

I suggest you post this and similar questions to the Portal Server newsgroup
at microsoft.public.sharepoint.portalserver

Despite being a question about problems with the WSS part of Portal Server
2003, the question does rely on users having SPS 2003 and therefore is of no
interest to all the users of other WSS implementations (standalone; Project
Serveer 2003; SBS 2003) that also visit here looking for solutions to WSS
problems common to all implementations.

At the portal server newsgroup by comparison everyone is using Portal
Server; most SPS2003 and thus might have come across this. (And may also be
able to comment on the way you upgraded from WSS to SPS 2003 is causing this
problem - people here can't)
