I am not sure what the new way is to change the look and feel?

The "new" way for a lot of the customizations are being done with Features.
Features allow you do define some new functionality, install them and then
activate them.
For example you can create a custom list as a feature and then install and
allow the admin to activated it for the site.

FrontPage has been replace with SharePoint Designer. Ghosting is less of an
issue.

You can create your own ASP.Net master pages as well

Lots of new and interseting customization mechinisms.

Yes, I have read about all of this "cool new stuff" but none of the articles
tell you how-to do the stuff. Like just put my .NET control in place of the
MS control. Anyone know how to do this?

Microsoft's top navbar
<SharePoint:Navigation LinkBarId="1002" runat="server"/>

I want to replace with mine....
<myNavBar:TopNavigation runat="server"/>

The WSS FAQ has links to a lot of 2007 articles in its MS Articles section
under category "Info - 2007 Products". See
http://www.asaris.de/sites/walsh/Lists/MS%20Articles/Grouped%20By%20Category.aspx

For one good article on adding a feature (link included in the above site)
go direct to
