    - Sub or Function not defined?! In a further attempt to debug the disabled=false problem, I wrote out some enabling code in the subforms and call it from the parent. Here is the code in the subform... Normally this implies I forgot to set it to public, but as you can see, this is not the problem. isEditable is definitely returning True. Any ideas? Is this a "duh"?     - How to Access MailItem properties after Send I am creating a new mailitem using the following code and then displaying the mailitem to the user to complete. However after the user "Sends" the email and the control returns to my code the oMailItem no longer exists. How can I use this functionality and keep hold of the oMailItem so that I can log the details e.g. Subject and Body etc. in a database?     - How to shut down an ActiveX process? What is the "proper" way to shutdown an ActiveX EXE process? I have a program in which I'm using an activex exe process as a second thread. In one of the form's Declarations is this: Public WithEvents ABCD As cMyActiveX In that same form's Initialize event, there is: Set ABCD = New cMyActiveX And, in the form's Unload event: Set ABCD = Nothing Occasionally - at random - the main program does not shut down properly. It crashes with error 3420 (Object not found or no longer set). Or the activex process locks up (not responding) and has to be closed using the task manager.     - Problem when using Microsoft Active Accessibility 2.0 and VB 60 We are using Microsoft Active Accessibility 2.0 to inspect our GUI's that are developed with VisualBasic 6.0. The radiobutton, checkboxes, pushbuttons and menu-items on the screen are recognized by the inspect32 tool. It shows the correct "name" and "value" of the object that is pointed at with the mouse. The problem we are having is with "edit text" fields on the screen. The value entered into the fields IS captured, but the name of the field is not recognized. The inspect32 tools shows most of the times "none" and some times it displays a static text from somewhere else on the screen. Does anyone know if there is a way to fix this ?     - API's Hi, I've begun to dig into APIs just a tad and wanted to see if I'm on the right track. Do you think the below descrip is the 'right track' to get into API's, along of course with examples & samples etc. from around the 'net (love all of your web sites; nice to have reliable resources!) for supporting the effort? Or should I be taking a different tact? Here's what I've done so far (and it's embryonic, I know): To begin with, I downloaded code from Randy Birch and Matt Hart, which I'm happy to say is sailing along nicely now, thanks to especially Randy's coding style which seems to "sync" with how I think somehow. Working great! So, great as the "stuff" worked, I now had a buncha "stuff" I totally didn't understand past the black box barrier. They're obviously pretty powerful "stuff" too<g>. Installed the API Viewer Add-In. Played with it a bit, didn't get a whole lot of satisfaction out of it other than I now see where lots of the API's I come across are able to get their declarations straight. After a little more unsatisfying Googling it finally sunk in that maybe I should take a look inside the *.txt file, e.g. win32api.txt, and WOW, there's LOTS of good information, including the Shell File Operations I am currently using among other things. Am I headed in at least the right general direction to be able to find/use API's? Or do I need to maybe regroup and go a different route? Looks like a lot of trial & error, but I have a feeling that's what it's going to take until experience begins to take over.     - Exporting to Excel I have inherited an old VB6 app that uses Crystal Reports files and generates output files in both PDF and XLS format. For the Excel output (Excel 2002), users want them to show gridlines by default. There's probably an export option that can be set to accomplish this, but I have not been able to find it. Between those date, user told me that they cannot get the records. However 13th Oct 2007 onward, user can get the records. History of the application Installed on 22th Jan 2007 by previous programmer. Running smoothly until 1st Oct 2007. Troubleshooting & Observations Open the data with Access 2000, data type is datetime. 1)The date format follow Regional Setting Date Format. If Regional Setting is dd/mm/yyyy then Access is 31/12/2007 If Regional Setting is mm/dd/yyyy then Access is 12/31/2007 2) The data for 1st Oct 2007 was save as 10th Jan 2007. The data for 2nd Oct 2007 was save as 10th Feb 2007. I trace the problem to Format() function with Date. The application is using Format(Date,"dd/mm/yyyy") to store date into Access Database. It then use Format(Date, "mm/dd/yyyy") in SQL statement to query data between start date and end date. I got 2 software environment where the application is running. 1)Window XP Pro(software development PC) Regional Setting is dd/mm/yyyy 2)Window 2000 Pro(user pc) Regional Setting is dd/mm/yyyy (Only user's MIS dept can change) Let take 01/10/2007 (1st Oct 2007) as Start_Date 02/10/2007 (2nd Oct 2007) as End_Date In Window XP Pro, Format(Start_Date,"mm/dd/yyyy") return 10/01/2007 Format(End_Date, "mm/dd/yyyy") return 10/02/2007 thus it return records between 1st Oct 2007 and 2nd Oct 2007 when i query the data. In Window 2000 Pro(user PC) Format(Start_Date,"mm/dd/yyyy") return 01/10/2007 Format(End_Date, "mm/dd/yyyy") return 02/10/2007 thus it return records between 10th Jan 2007 and 10th Feb 2007. However 12/10/2007 (12th Oct 2007) as Start_Date 13/10/2007 (13th Oct 2007) as End_Date Format(Start_Date,"mm/dd/yyyy") return 12/10/2007 Format(End_Date, "mm/dd/yyyy") return 10/13/2007 thus the SQL is incorrect for 10th Dec 2007 as start date and 13th Oct 2007 end date. I don't want to rely on late binding as the code will be used in many OS/Office environments. I assume it was this forum I saw the post. I think the routine extracted the version of Word somehow, and then set up a reference in code to the appropriate object library depending on the version. I have a treeview to display drives and Folders and a Listview to display folders and files.     - OTsort of but not really, Nvidia issue that affects all apps. Posting this because I found an issue with NVIDIA and repeated registry queries that effect any application that has focus. To the point that it can slow an application. Applies to Windows 2k and XP and maybe earlier versions. If you have an NVIDIA video card, check HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run and see if nwiz.exe is being launched on start up. If so, launch Registry Monitor ( RegMon ) or Process Monitor from http://www.microsoft.com/technet/sysinternals/Processesandthreadsutilities.mspx?wt.svl=featured with a wild card * set as the filter so that it shows everything and see if the machine is making constant registry queries looking for: HKLM\Software\NVIDIA Corporation\Global\NVTweak\DisableWindowCaching If so, either create a DWORD ValueName DisableWindowCaching and give it a value of 0 ( zero ) or if you're running a single monitor simply delete the nwiz.exe entry from the run key. When using a webbrowser or IE object in VB-6 to launch an instance of IE in Vista IE7, you "must" navigate "before" you set the object as visible, or Vista IE7 will open a blank window asking for "permission." I want to add 47,232 entries to the listbox, I've added the records using 'LIST1.ADDITEM x' without any problems (I think, data looks ok). But the 'LIST1.LISTCOUNT' returns a number of -18,304?     - Uninitialized objects Q Hi, I've seen this happen before and only now figured out why it seemed to "repair" itself and eventually go away after I tidied up code. I have the following three simple procedures in a test module. Only Command2 & Form_Load is of any consequence to this post; Command1 is a simple convenience. As though it had a character in it to start with. e.g. "1 1/2" returns the "2". But as soon as I backspace out or highlight/delete the data and again enter "1 1/2" I get the expected "/" returned. Putting the form_load with its ' text1 = "" ' of course, fixed the problem and it works the first time without sort of "priming" it<g>. I understand it's because Text1 isn't Initialized. Apparently in the uninitialized state it contains a non-printable character; NULL maybe? What I did not realize was that the character would be sort of a character interpretation that would be counted in the mid function (and most any textbox function I now realize and probably myriad other places too). I would very much appreciate it if someone could point me to a search phrase or term to look up in the MSDN Help to explain the various uninitialized states and what they contain. Web site, whatever. I've been looking for a couple hours and simply can not find anything about it. It's nothing critical but I would like to get my head around exactly what's up with uninitialized objects.
