    - Problem figuring out a date Hi, The new version of firefox is storing their expire date in this 10 digit format: 2145801610 and according to the information in the browser this should be the date: Wednesday, December 30, 2037 9:00:00 AM Does anyone know how they are converting that number to that date. I have two tables, Loc (location) and Per (person) and the rows are in many to many correspondence to each other. Given a the primary key of a Per record (PerID) in a variable named lngPerID which is obtained by clicking on a row in a Per grid, my query needs to select all the locations with which this person is association.     - usercontrol's width = 0 I made a simple panel usercontrol, only a rectangle containing one label but with the capability of fore- and background colors, a very simple control which could rarely be simpler. No big action. When I use this control in a larger project, sometimes - and only sometimes - I get an error at saving or compiling the project because of usercontrol.scalewidth (and also usercontrol.width) is zero and therefore the label's width turns negative when computed as LBL.width = UserControl.ScaleWidth-2*Screen.TWIPSPERPIXELX . In the host application there is no resizing done which could lead to widh=0, f.e. due to an error. According to that the IDE shows no calling function when breaking down, only the resize event where the width calculation is placed.     - vb6.0 create recurrence schedule I am trying to implement a recurrence schedule component for the users to attach to a discount model for their retail products. For example, they want to discount a product during "happy hour" and do that on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday. There are lots of suggestions searching google but they mainly have to do with outlook/exchange or some other PIM. I want that same functionality, but I don't see how to separate it.     - vb6.0 udp multicast problem I have a UNIX machine broadcasting and receiving messages via UDP multicast. I have configured a vb6.0 app with a winsock control configured haphazardly. I say haphazardly because there are no winsock udp multicast examples in any Microsoft documentation or any where else for that matter. I can send messages to the Unix machine, it receives them and parses them perfectly. Messages coming back are not received by the vb6.0 app. Question 1. Can the winsock control be configured udp multicast? Since all the examples show unicast. Question 2.     - Need help with sqlite3.dll Hi, I am trying to open and manipulate a sqlite database, containing cookie information in FireFox browser. I have an application that I use which removes all the cookies I don't want to save and worked just fine until FireFox changed to a sqlite type database. :-) I am trying a wrapper which I can get to open the database and list all the items contained in a listview control.     - Double quote issue with VB6, Access and text files ** remove nospam from email address if replying direct. This has been driving me crazy on and off for years and hope someone can help. Using VB6 I create an Access database. I then take a pipe delimited text file and populate the fields of the database. This works really well 99 percent of the time. Where I run into difficulties is when a record has double quotes. One of two things happen...either I get a message stating that the text file is not in the expected format or it discontinues reading the file without any error messages.     - Bizarre broken Visual Studio 2005 Issue PC with VS2005 and VS2008 side-by-side Everything working normally yesterday; no subsequent installs of any additional software or SP's since then. Create a new Visual Basic Windows Application project in VS2005 and start debug by clicking play button and this is what happens: Startup form does not show; instead, an empty, design-time Properties dialog box appears, very briefly, and then project exits, all within 1 second or so. Exactly the same thing happens whether you start with a new Windows Application project, or load an existing Project, so this would not appear to be a project-specific problem, but rather a VS2005 problem I would really, really, really rather not have to do a complete re-installation................sigh If anyone has any ideas?     - Graphic problems I want to (I already did, but it did not work 100%) integrate a function that slide an image into current DC. I'm using bitblt for that. I'm desperate because I always hear that BitBlt is the fastest graphics function ever. My slide isn't smooth. I got a Wii Playstation, and it uses this "slide in" effect quite often. And I wonder how they managed to make it fail proof. Is it because these programmers know that there are no other apps that can consume CPU? I am doing my slide in a loop and check for the time the last slide step took to complete and set the next step accordingly: If the last step was slower than expected, the next step will occur earlier, and the next-next step will also occur earlier to compensate for the lost time.     - ViewPort3D and windows forms Hi, I'm Reading Petzold's 3d Programming for Windows and trying to use the Windows Presentation Foundation Classes I've got a Viewport3d created but I can't figure out how to attatch it to a form so I can see what it's output is. Petzold says it can be done. He attaches it to a DockPanel and then to the window.content property, But I don't have access to a .content property of a windows form. I am stumped...     - Very strange: the code was good for the last 10 years and now it is stumbling!!! Hello, Maybe someone else had the same problem. The code writing to Windows registry was good and working perfectly for the last 10 years and now suddenly it stops working intermittently.     - Confession of IT nightmare employee I needed to reinstall my palm handheld on my work computer. This requires admin rights, so I sent a request. While I was waiting, I happened to notice that there are some stray vbs scripts on my desktop for installing software that the company added over the year or so. These scripts have an admin password in the text. After waiting 8 or 9months (not kidding), I rewrote the scripts to install the palm software. This has worked, sort of. I can reinstall my software but it seems several stages are skipped. There is no shortcut on my desktop, and I can't read my hot sync log. Here are my questions. Why does this password work in the script, but not for logon? Also if I try to use it in the command window (cmd.exe--runas /profile...) the key board won't even type the password. Why? Then I exit that page and am back on the many links page. On Win98 the link I just used would be a Red color or appear to have been clicked. I would then know which one I last clicked on. I have two output text files, one is a data file and the other is a log file. When the process starts I open the log file first: iFHLog = freefile() open sFileName for output as #iFHLog I proceed to do some preprocessing (set up environment, open DBs, etc.) and such events. I then call the routine that will create the data file and open the file: iFHData = freefile() open sDataFile for output as iFHData And immediately proceed to log the event: '27 is "open data file" event sysLogEvent iFHLog, 27, lngErNo, sDataFile & " - FHS=" & intFH I further log other events as the data file is being created. When the process is done the data file looks something like this: Data line Header Logged event Data line 1, section 1 Data line 2, section 1 : Data line N, section 1 logged event Date line 1, section 2 : Data line N, section 2 logged event Why is my data file littered with log events when I distinctly write out the data and event to 2 different files? It gets weirder: In the 4 plus years that this process has been running this has happened maybe 4 or 5 times given that hundreds of these data files are created correctly everyday. Since this is a mission critical process, that's 4 or 5 times too many :-S I can understand this failing if I did something like this: iFHLog = freefile() iFHData = freefile() open sLogFile for output as #iFHLog open sDataFile for output as #iFHData However, this is not the case. When a value is blank in the ASCII file, I want the recordset to store a null, but it stores a 0 instead. I used adFldIsNullable as the field attribute, but that does not seem to work. VB6 application running on Vista
My app allows the user to drag drop from windows explorer on to my app.
Works in Win XP fine and used to work on Vista.
Vista PC C: crashed and I am restoring all back,
On previous incarnation of Vista PC I had UAC turned off and I was the super
admin.
Now, for getting used to "normal" Vista I have not touched those yet. Drag
drop seems not to work.
I have my app set up in compatibility mode for XP SP2 and also run as admin.
Yet it will not.
Suggestions please!

If you start your app in admin-mode you cannot drag and drop to or from
applications that run as a different user.
