Does anyone know how to download this CD from MSDN subscriber downloads? I
have no help available for VB6 without it.

Thanks,

Dale

Presumably, you can get to MSDN Subscriber Downloads, right?

Once there, open "MSDN Library" in the treeview, then "MSDN Library October
2001". Pick "English" or "Japanese", and start downloading. You can d/l
either one disc at a time, or with the English version you can d/l the
entire setup at once.

Furthermore, I strongly recommend downloading the 3 CD image files and
burning them to CD. Supposedly, MS is going to pull VB6 from Subscriber
Downloads in June and when they do that, they may very well pull MSDN
Library October 2001 as well. They got rid of VB5 and VS5 from Subscriber
Downloads some time ago, and last December (2005) they pulled VS6 (and VB6
too, but for the time-being have made VB6 available again)

Looks like MS has already pulled the Japanese version. I just went to
Subscriber Downloads and it wasn't there. There was only the English
version. Could be a sign. <g>

Of course they pulled it... and they should pull the English version too.
After all, all of the VB6 programmers have now switched over to VB.NET so
there is no longer any reason to keep **old** stuff like that around any
more.<vbg>

I get and appreciate the sarcasm.

Too bad MS doesn't.

You can still download VB2/3/4, C++ 1.52/2.0/4.2, MSDOS6.x, QuickBasic 4.5,
and a lot more **old** stuff.

Yeahbut.... those don't compete with dotNet <g>.. "supposedly" the reason is
their ongoing antitrust suit with Sun so they're removing anything that
installs MSJVM... including Office2k, VS6, etc. VS6 is extremely easy to
install without MSJVM but... whaddya gonna do.

Ongoing? I thought that suit was over and whatever Microsoft removed on the
first go-a-round was the negotiated settlement. Am I wrong in believing
this?
