I would like to allow a user to store a sequence of key presses and mouse movements and to send them on command to a specified software. I need to send mouse movements too because I want to be able to draw on graphical area of applications like Paint or Photoshop. My program uses SendInput to transmit key presses and mouse movements to Windows. Unfortunately, I'm loosing some of my data. For sample, I send "Middle Button Down", then "Mouse Move", then "Middle Button Up". >From time to time, one of these is not received by the target software.     - Side-by-Side hell with Visual Studio 2005 SP1 Hi, I'm having problems after installing VS 2005 SP1 with side-by-side with VC++ dlls. I'm getting the error 0xc0150002 when trying to register an ATL/MFC dll in a computer without last version of VC++ dlls installed on WinSXS. It's easy to reproduce. I have created an ATL project with VS wizard, and I added the option of support MFC. In my computer with VS 2005 SP1 installed it can be registered without any problem. Now I copy the dll to a computer with VS 2005 without SP1, or to a computer with previous version of VC redistributables (8.0.50727.42). I copy also to the same directory the new VC dlls (8.0.50727.762). If i try to load or register the dll it gives me the error 0xc0150002. If I open the dll with Dependecy Walker the programs gives me the same error. But the VC dlls copied to the directory are in the list of loaded modules.     - MS Visual C++ Professional Edition/ Academic Version I am running Windows XP, Home Edition 5.1 (sp2) on a GenuineIntel Processor (512 MHz, 256 MB RAM). Just when I though I understood (wishful thinking) the myriad of flavors of MS Visual C++, version 6, I now see MSVC++ Professional Edition - Academic Version. My question is, what is the academic version of the professional edition? Does it lack some of the functionality of the regular professional edition. I have been messing with the Express Edition and am wanting to avoid getting anything similar. I like the MFC AppWizard in the Professional (and I think standard) edition. You make a menu item and then R-Click, choose ClassWizard and bingo - you're adding code for your event handler. With the Express Edition, you right click and there is nothing related to an event handler. Just a lot of stuff to make the item prettier. I eventually got an event handler but it was in the .h file. To sum it up, if I want the AppWizard capability (and MFC) associated with the professional edition, would the academic version work? Many thanks in advance, Peter.     - Want to create a function which returns a value obtained from a callback function Hello I want to write a C++ function which returns a Windows handle. I need to call a callback function to find the Window. The specific function is EnumChildWindows. As the final parameter of EnumChildWindows I can pass a pointer back to my class. so I can access class functions ok. I thought that I could have a member variable in the class which is an HWND. Then the this variable could be updated by EnumChildWindows if a window handle is found. then when the function returns I just take the value in the variable as the first found windows handle.     - Variable arguments & class objects... what's the "type" When a call to a function with variable arguments is made, such as any of the printf() family of functions, all of the actual parameters passed after the last formally defined argument get pushed on the stack after going thru some sort of type casting operation. Integral data types appear to all get cast into a numeric value equal to the machine architecture's native word size [e.g. 32-bits or 64-bits]. Likewise, pointer data values get treated the same way. What I'm interested in knowing for certain is how MS Visual C/C++ handles instances of class objects that are passed in this way. It appears that the address of the class object is what gets pushed on the stack, but what I can't tell is whether or not the compiler does this unconditionally or if it actually uses some sort of implicit conversion operator that by default uses the value of "this". If there is a data type that the class is being implicitly cast to, then what I really want to do is to provide my own overload of that conversion operator so that I can have something else, such as maybe a string buffer which the address of gets used instead of the class object's own address.     - LoadLibrary path problem Hello All I'm using LoadLibrary to load a DLL that comes from a third party company. The problenm is that LoadLibrary will only accept a fully qualified path to the DLL. A relative path returns error 126 (module not found) and a null HINSTANCE.     - Changing file names in VS projects. Greetings, I have inherited a workspace with 2 projects in it. Looking at the directory I see that the .cpp files for the first created project are in the workspace directory and the .cpp files for the 2nd project are in a sub-folder. In the workspace and the new project folder there is a file named UsbHid.cpp. This does not cause a problem for VS but to avoid confusion for me and others I would like to rename the file in the sub-folder. It is more difficult than I thought. I can change the name by external means but the project clings to the old name. Is there a clean way to do this? So I decided to raise that issue once again. In general the problem with VS.NET 2003 linker is that it will discard an object file containing definitions of global variables of any type/ class if nothing else in this file is referenced by other files in the project. Now I have the following case. In given source file I have definitions of several global variables that in contructor register itself in another global container object. Later in code any of these variables would be accessed via that global container. But what actually happens is that the linker decides to discard the object files and instances of these global variables are never created and registered in the container. I am not sure what should be the correct behaviour of the linker in that case but could anyone let me know how to overcome that problem and make the linker to include the needed object files without forcing it to include any object files from given library even if not referenced at all? Can we say that in my case objects are not referenced at all since even if they are not referenced directly still it is possible to be reference via the container object? Many thanks in advance! I have developed Server-Client Windows Forms .NET applications in VC++ .NET v2003. I have several problems re-establishin connection between peers. Below are my problem cases after closing of the first successfull communication; #1) I re-start the Server to accept connection requests. While it is waiting, I run the Client. It is connecting to server socket and waits for the data communication. But at this time, my server program is still waiting at "BeginAccept". Nothing changes at its status. #2) I re-start the Server to accept connection requests. While it is waiting, I run the Client. It gives 10061 WSAECONNREFUSED (Connection refused by host) #3) After first successful communication closing, I start the Client to connect to server 2-4 seconds later. It connects to a server socket however my server socket program is not started to accept connection requests at this time. Then, Client program waits for data communication. I checked the working TCP sockets with "netstat -n -o 2" command. After the closing of the first successfull communication, first server socket's status either TIME_WAIT and several seconds later CLOSE_WAIT, or when it TIME_WAIT, new connection is being set with same server IP:PORT with clietn socket (problems at #1 and #3) I shutdown and close my sockets using the same commands.     - const oddity in decorated names If I declare the functions void foo(int bar[]) void bar(int * bar) then I expect them to behave the same way - and indeed they do in most cases. I have give these functions these (admittedly meeningless) implementation: __declspec(dllexport) void foo(int bar[]) { bar = NULL; } __declspec(dllexport) void bar(int * bar) { bar = NULL; } The program compiles. If I look at the decorated names of the exported names in the dll they aren't the same though. foo gets a decorated names that indicates that it was declared as void foo(int * const bar). But since the program above compiled that is obviously not the case. I'll have admit that the difference between "int *" and "int * const" in a function argument is irrelevant to the caller of the function, but is there a reason for this oddity, or is this just a mistake? We are using opendesktop api in a api and we ar getting return code
170 (The requested resource is in use. ERROR_BUSY)after executing the
binary for some times . If i restart the box and execute the binary,
the error disappears.

I have not been able to find any documentation describing under what
conditions ERROR_BUSY is returned by OpenDesktop nor how to handle
this condition. For example, should OpenDesktop be retried after a
short sleep?

If anyone can provide any information on this condition, it would be
appreciated.

This is as good a forum as any (well, one of microsoft.pubplic.platformsdk.*
would be a little better) for asking about Win32 APIs such as OpenDesktop
