I see that the creator of the class has two operators that seem to be the trick to get the value but I don't get how to use the operators. Now the winamp plugins "gen_whatsplaying" interface saving the data related to songs currently being played by Winamp to a specified text file. such as time the song starts playing, name of the song currently being played etc. depending on the parameters specified in the pluggin's template file. Now, I want to save the data directly to a MSAccess database file, which is currently being saved in a text file, such as time the song starts playing, name of the song currently being played etc.depending on the parameters specified in the pluggin's template file. e.g. "6:23:39 PM- D:\shaan\03 WOH PEHLI BAAR.mp3" this information I want to store in two different field of Access database table. please let me know how do I do that? But in this case i don't have privilege to load this dll only if certain criteria is met. I don't want to change the already written code to explicit linking. I have difficulties interpreting the documentation for the secure version of some CRT methods and I would like to know some opinions if you would care to share.  - LINK : fatal error LNK1104: cannot open file "nafxcwd.lib" Hi all, I'm a C newbie in a desperate need of help. My background isn't programming but engineering, so my programming skills are somewhat limited (I am able to write simple single-threaded progs in C, but hardly more than that). It just happened that my work requires me to take a program and strip it off all kind of GUI, make it just a simple command prompt thingie. And so I did, more or the less. Now, I didn't remove any includes or anything of a kind, but my stripped proggie consistently refuses to link (compiling is OK) and the error I get ts the one in the subject. I searched all of my hard drive, this file doesn't exist on it. But the original program never "jumped" on it, as if it never required it in a first place. As I said I never added anything to the program, only removed some of the GUI related code... And the new program seems to require something that the old one never did... I succeeded using a local type as template argument in MSVC 8.0, but I found out that this violates the standard (14.3.1.2), and sadly does not work with g++. I need to parse a command line input and separate the flags from the command for inputting into CreateProcess. For example, if lpCmdLine is of type LPTSTR and hase a value of "cmd.exe / t:fc /q", I need to divide the string such that one string is of type LPTSTR and equals "cmd.exe" and the other string is also of type LPTSTR and equals "/t:fc /q".  - Exception handling from a dll I am calling into a dll from a simple driver. the dll has a number of exported function (extern "C") I have enabled the compiler switch /EHs to assume that extern C functions can throw an exception. If I raise an exception in the dll the exception is never caught by the drivers catch handler So from the driver : try { // call into the dll LibraryFunctionCall(); } catch(...) { ... } the LibraryFunctionCall simply generates a throw 1 but it never gets caught by the driver, instead generates a "First-chance exception at 0x7c812a5b in clientDriver.exe: Microsoft C+ + exception: int at memory location 0x0012feb0.." >From the Microsoft MSDN it seems that this should be possible.  - p/invoke, __clrcall, Run-Time Check Failure #0 My code uses several pointers to unmanaged functions via dllimport. For some reason, though I didn't change the calling convention, when I declare the pointers, the compiler insists on viewing the dllimported functions as __clrcall (See thread: http://groups.google.com/group/microsoft.public.vc.language/browse_thread/thread/e371441aa1d9603d/a7aec9c7412141a9?lnk=gst&q=__clrcall&rnum=2#a7aec9c7412141a9) I think this is coming back to bite me in a later function call, now. Down along the line -- when calling one of my pointers -- the app freezes when debugging. If I run it without the debugger, I get the following error: "Run-Time Check Failure #0 - The value of ESP was not properly saved across a function call. This is usually a result of calling a function declared with one calling convention with a function pointer declared with a different calling convention." Running a p/invoked function as __clrcall doesn't make much sense, so that must be the problem. But I didn't choose to do it that way. Even when I explicitly declare the imported functions as __cdecl, when I assign the pointer, VC++ tells me that: error C2440: 'initializing' : cannot convert from 'void (__clrcall *) (mupdf::Data::fz_colorspace *,float *,float *)' to 'void (__cdecl *) (mupdf::Data::fz_colorspace *,float *,float *)' None of the functions with this name in scope match the target type Using a static_cast gives the exact same error.  - Question about compiler bug: Value-initialization in new-expression I recently got into trouble because MSVC++ appeared to incorrectly implement value-initialization, for a struct that I was using. Luckily the bug was reported in 2005 already, by Pavel: Feedback ID 100744, "Value-initialization in new-expression". https://connect.microsoft.com/VisualStudio/feedback/ViewFeedback.aspx?FeedbackID=100744 The example has a struct that looks very much like mine: struct A { std::string s; int i; }; When doing "new A()", the int data member does not get zero-initialized, as it should. Jonathan Caves (Visual C++ Compiler Team) has admitted that it is indeed a bug. The DirectX 9.0 SDK file: "<DirectXRoot>\include\dsound.h" uses the type definition "DWORD_PTR". dsound.h does not define or include a header file that define DWORD_PTR.
