HI

I just need a little info:

Anybody know if there's a point in getting VC7 stand alone?
What does it mean , no optimized compiler and.
Will all my VC6 application compile ??
Also, i Have C# , stan alone. Can i mix C# stand alone and VC7 stand alone ?

Why stand alone ? cause VC7 is only 150$, but .NET is over a 1000$ :(

Thanks a lot .

I suppose you are talking of VC7.1, not VC7.
(IMO there is no point int getting VC7.)

It means that your apps will run much
slower. (AFAIK it won't even inline
functions.)

Not necessary. VC6 was pretty broken
regarding the C++ std. It allowed (or even
required) a lot of code that is not allowed
by the std. VC7.1 is much better in this
regard, flagging erros in code that VC6
used to accept.
(A more conforming std lib might add to
that.)

No idea.

You get what you pay for.
(Look at the prices for MSDN which includes
VC. It might be better to get MSDN instead
of VS Pro alone.)
There had been a thread recently on getting
the .NET framwork compiler to work with
VC7 Std. I'm not sure what the outcome was,
but google will tell you.

If you already have VC6 (Pro), an upgrade version is at least 50% off the
retail price.
